Here is a "REALISTIC PENCIL RENDERING" I did of a 57 in the weeds. I borrowed this picture with permission from a member "aceuh", who posted this picture a couple months ago on the FAS. It has taken me a lot longer to find the time to get it done but now its finally here. Let me know what you think. The size is 8"x10". Wish I had more time to draw!

Great Show Folks!!!

With the baby on the way any minute now (5 days from the projected due date) I haven't had a ton of time to devote to art being a good hubby and future dad helping the Mrs and around the house, but I was playing a bit when my wife was sleeping soundly (actually, snoring like a chain saw)

I was inspired by the old Hellings Co logo with the fella with the race helmet and huge 'tashe to do something for my chapter of the Road Devils using some recycled elements:
http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs121.snc1/5213_121421425747_697245747_2499033_2565883_n.jpg

I turned this into a wallpaper for the 'puter that looks like this:
http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs194.snc1/6531_135328713904_820013904_2236733_5728649_n.jpg

If you want to change your background because you've been staring at that same old pic, you can download a copy for yourself:

DOWNLOAD FOR standard monitors 1920 x 960 (http://www.box.net/shared/19sf0szvvy)

or

DOWNLOAD for WIDESCREEN MONITORS 1680 x 1050 (http://www.box.net/shared/6dxnfbfeza)

Hi everyone... my friend Jeff Norwell said you might like to look back at some of my older design work. This is from Hot Rod Magazine's "The Future" article which appeared in January 1988. I got a lot of coverage in this issue and this is only one of several designs in that article.

Done in mid 1987 with "old school" methods... it was done on Cresent poster board using mechanical pencil, rapidograph and marker. Just a bit of spray paint with frisket for the foreground.

Back in the day, there was just a handful of us, doing rod & custom designs. The multitudes of super talent out there now (and on this Forum) "blows me away". I sure enjoy looking, hope you still find this interesting... more to come if so. -Charlie-

Actually, we'd love to see any of your stuff...new and old...since you are every bit as capable digitally as you are in the "old school" methods. Got any pics of that 1/8th scale hiboy?

Thanks to several of you for the warm welcome. I'll for sure be dropping back in for "Friday Art Show" from week to week.

Can't spend it all in one place, the first time around though. I still have most of the original art I did for the Jan. '88 and '89 Hot Rod articles and I'll share those in the coming weeks.

This is the first time I've ever visited this "Show"... I am simply amazed at the talent here. Makes me feel the future of the rod & custom... hobby - sport - profession - and industry is in very "good hands".

Wow, man. Really amazing work out there. I only hope to get half as good as some of you guys one day.

This is my first post to the art show, so I hope its worthy enough to put on here. I've been stripin for just about a year now. I'm still not great at it, but I'm learnin.

Here's a toilet seat I striped for my mom's boss as a birthday present a couple weeks ago. Please excuse the poor photography, its just a cell phone pic.

-Charlie-

A pair of airbrush pieces I finished in the last couple weeks.

Thanks.
It's funny that tjis one was picked for the book. Let me explain...
I went back to resize these so I could load them up on Photobucket to,
further, post them here and there. It was whist doing this that I noticed
a glaring mistake with this one. You see, I had flopped the image for the coloring book and forgot to move the driver over. Let's just say I didn't do this, rather, this is a British built rod, complete wth right hand drive and all
that, Yes?

Pip-pip, Cheerio, and all that, don't you know?

Gotcha,
I noticed the driver was kinda darkened out(or so I thought)
and told one of my nephews (who is a BIG TIME Star Wars fanatic ... 9 years old) that is was Darth Vader driving....He was like "Woa, Awesome!

This is the start of a painting I should have done for next weeks art show.
Sorry it looks a bit smudgy, pencil does not clean up well on canvas, and that can actually be a good thing. There is more to the painting around the edges but I just did not bother with it on the scannner.

Yellow, now why Yellow - Just because it's a racer in the SouthWest doesn't mean it has to be Yellow

Well Maybe the Dude doesen't have Yello - besides that he has smudges to work thru - how would that work with Yello?

Who is Pat Ganahl ? nice work BTW hotrd32 !..
It's kinda late - oh well. This is HAMB'r 'hot-rod dude' s idea of a pub crawl, outback South Aussie style. Inline & 4 bang Chevy's. Re- pack wheel bearings & re- grease car each morning. The grease becomes a rough- ridden mish- mash of runny honey by lunchtime. All cars O.K- most trouble was on late- model tender- 3 flat tyres. Adelaide to Birdsville via Birdsville track & back via Innaminka. No loungechair ride here- wide- eyes the whole way. And beer at the end of the day.
Oh yeah, check it out -this is winter in the outback. Just a tad milder than the average Minnesota winter would be my guess.
Cheers Pat Ganahl ! Lurv Ike's digger ! You keep the hot rod wick on the spark for many years 4 many of us !
