Thats quiet a lot of history and very interesting. Its unreal that the original family still has the car after all these years. I would think it's one of the oldest documented drag cars i ever saw that still has a lot of the original parts and chassis components. Thanks for posting the pictures and story.

That car was parked next to me this year at the HHR. It is a way cool storie and a part of drag racing history.

Yep, I've had most of your pictures in my "spirit" album for awhile. I recall many of the early middie builds, and that was one that made the magazines.
I remember when I first saw it (bodied & hemied, in a magazine) I thought it was another of the occasional butchered formula cars that showed up at the strips in those days. Only later learned it was a scratcher.
I'm a Hoosier (Elkhart) by birth but was only six and gone in '52 (service brat), wouldn't be into cars for another couple years and in Texas. Wish I could've seen'er run, especially in the open flattie form. :cool:
