aod shift problems

im having shift issues with an aod on a 302 it has a shift kit it was shifting good chirping 2nd and i learned how to manually shift to hold 2nd gear at the track then it wouldnt come out of 1st at the end of the track when i slowed down to return i had to dissconnect the detec cable and mess with it now it comes out of 1st but when i drive normally its shift thru the gears by 35mph
