Didja see Friday's, with the grave digging hearses? My favorite of course was the second Caddy, the '50-soimething with the header pipes heading up and towards the passengers' side. The crackle out of that open exhaust was something (but hell a new mill from Jegs!), but the square-shaped cutout they had on the front of either pipe was bitchin', I thought. (who says 'bitchin'' anymore? I do) Gettin' some blue flame out of it. Am not sure that team deserved successs, though.
Whadja think o' the Caddy?

They didnt deserve success? why not? I'll have to tell tim that...The second caddy was wayyyy cool though. I was watching the show, and my little sister came into the room and about screamed cuz she thought it was too badass...I'd like to think Ive taught her well.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif -J.

I did not see where the budget over ride was paid for. Plus the new rules say only one freebie... they got more than one.

Plus the TV show seems to gotten to jesse's head.

Yeah, and did anyone notice that the plow front broke off, and so when it came time to the challenge, they just magically filled the hole up with dirt.

Oh, and that last "goth" part was very lame!

Still, a bad ass car though! I don't know why they have to put the money limit on there and the rules. Why don't they just say, "You have to build something bad ass in 7 days." That's hard enough.

i'll have to admit, when monster garage first came out, the idea was kinda cool....however, it's gotten entirely too cheezy. how much were they over budget?? 8 grand or something and they still got a brand new jegs crate motor...???
it's too bad they didn't just donate that hearse to the hamb...then discovery channel could have flown ALL the hambers to ryans for a big hearse buildin' party...and still been under budget.

I really liked the Topolino they stole the 1st engine out of.I would have liked to see it for more than just that 2 secs...
But then they probably would have cut it up.

i watch it.it is fun to watch.it was killing me the whole time they where cutting up that caddy.i could never drive a hearse, but it would have been a cool rod,and i still dont think there3 was anything wrong with the first motor.it probly would have made more power.they where just too dumb to figure the problem out.crate motors just make me sick sometimes.

I was watching this at a local bar (Idon't have cable) so I couldn't hear what was going on but what the HELL, these guys couldn't get that first motor running. Maybe they should call it Down syndrome Garage!
I was entertained by it all so I kept watching.

I have a weird fettish for DeLoreans, so it hurt a LOT when they fucked up TWO of them the show before last. But its still a lot better than other crappy shows.

Monster House is along the same lines, just not as over-produced, and they do a lot of good work (when the people know what they're doing).

I just wish they would quit f*cking up perfectly decent, potential customs. The Hearse Caddys and that late 60's or early 70's (sorry...can't remember which) Caddy were all nice customs just waiting to happen. Not sure why they even pretend to have a budget since they're never on track with it. I'm pretty sure there are enough regulars on the HAMB to have a Monster-HAMB crew that could out build most of (if not all) the Monster Garage crews.

"HAMBster, HAMBster Garage...

This week's challenge for Ryan and his team of maverick mechanics is to transform an ordinary ___________ into a killer rod! The crew will have seven days and nights to build their creation, and the clock starts NOW!

Let's meet the team.

Hailing from California, SamIam brings sleeper motor insight and low-buck sensibilty to the table. A veteran Eg0-Rama contestant, Sam is ready to rock!

From The Sunshine State comes Nads. He's built bikes, sleds and rods...and currently boasts the fastest Packard Powered Coupe known to exist.

From the Breadbasket comes Rocky, who is a virtual legend amongst the Rambler cults for his wizardry involving Kenosha Kannons! Famous also for his truck of legend and yore, Rocky is ready to do battle!

Next up from Gay Michigan comes Donzie...builder of topless chick magnet tubs and cheap Jap Choppers, Donzie heads the underground rod club known as The Gay Bitches. Full time attitude with punch-drunk humor...look out for this kat!

Last, from California is Germ, who has blown up more 215 Fords than anyone else in history. Currently involved in a shady small block upgrade, the High Priest of Hellfire will contribute banter and foolery to the build team in a ddition to his Ruler Status.

The Rules:

The team can spend no more than $10,000 on parts.
When completed, the vehicle should be as far from stock as possible, and any Freebies that can be begged, borrowed or stolen are fair game!..."

Would anyone watch THAT show???

I sure as Hell would!!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Anyone at Discovery Channel listening?????? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Is that the one that Tim Conder is on?? He's my hero. I have to see that no matter what they built. For anyone who doesn't know who Tim is go here: http://armageddontopfuel.com/

And for you guys who think motorcycles are scary and dangerous, look at the razor bike at the bottom of this page: http://armageddontopfuel.com/gallery/destruction.html

Jkustom- I'm not totally sure why I wrote that- they were a screwy bunch that seemed to butt heads with each other more than they worked together. But then that's alot of the guys I work with, too. But given the time restraints of their challenge... well at least they didn't screw off too much like before. It was still funny as hell to watch them work, though. Good thing they got a second chance. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think the money limitations are good for the challenge, but freebies seem like they're being used too often from companies as an ad within the show, which is good for the company (if, as in the Jeg's crate mill) they work out well.
But wasn't it the rock-climber Bronco in which they got a boatload of freebies in one shipment from some company. Can you imagine having that advantage to your garage project? It's great as a fantasy element to the show, but they should limit it, I think.

Funny about the "Freebies" on that show. I supplied the Airbags for the Tundra Project. I didn't even agree to sell them anything until we had an agreed upon price, and then they even filmed me pretending to "make a deal" with one of my buddies that was actually on the show...
Endded Up, I got paid what I wanted for the parts, and they called them a "freebie" and only used a 4 second clip of my dumb ass handing over a box.

So, the truth is OUT!

HOLLYWOOD LIES!

Stop the presses....
That's news we didn't know! ;-)

Still, it's another axe swing at what might have been -decent- television.

My take on Monster Garage? If it has to resort to neon to grab my attention, then there isn't anything there to hold my attention. Monster Garage seems to use a lot of neon.

Humboldt- Yeah they did kinda but heads a bit, But at least they were way more on track than in the first episode! Haha I actually did have a problem with how they were WAY over budget, and seems like they got more than one freebie. But Tim Condor is a super nice guy and A.T.F. is where its at!happens to have a fetish for my 54 too...Cool guy. -J.

Oddly many Goldwing owners own a Hardley roadking(?)too. Very interesting discussions at times. Many of them admit the Wing rides better, smoother, faster, less maintenance, yet they have to own the Harley too. Although the stereo system on the Harley appears to be better.

There was even a discussion of the V-Rod, about the engine removal for a valve / service adjustment?? That sounds like Dodge engineering!

title shit? I called the process company today to ask what has happened after 3+ weeks since my first call.

When you have to completely remind a person of every bit of information, then she looks it up in her system..... "OH yessssss " she finally says.

Then she asks for my number and will call me back in 20-30 minutes with an answer after she calls the state about the recording of my title paperwork........I am still waiting http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Since my brother works for the MVD section of the AZ dept of transportation.... I have names and numbers of folks to call if this gets much longer

seems Goldwings are more "acceptable" to the harley crowd than a lot of other bikes which baffles me because Bigdogs and the rest of the "custom" bikes are about as much harley as a yamaha....

I guess this thread was hi-jacked...... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

what did ya think of the hover-crap show where JJ threw the one guy out...... he was pandering to the camera. go figure

seems like most of the clowns do.

RE; bike riding. I have noticed on our travels that it does not matter what scoot you are riding. All wave as you pass each other on the road and chat when parked.

My wife likes to watch Monster Garage and the soap opera chopper builders too. I guess it seceretly inspires her, cause I get less bitching at.... from her, to let me work more on my projects, and she even occasionally fakes interest in my projects. I know....it sounds weird, but it really does.

Better than any those crap reality shows she also tries to flip the channel over to!

Its win, win programing for me.
