I'd like to run a spring behind an I beam axle to help get the front end down. I can't find any discussions or pics of this done. Anyone seen or done it? How?

You aren't looking. Pick a page, any page.

Jimmy Shine's pickup mounts the spring to the hairpins, and you can find good suspension pictures at Don's (DRD57) Hot Rod site. The spring shackles mount to plates on the batwing. This is a little different than the traditional suicide method, which keeps the spring above the axle and uses a crossmember with extended and raised spring plate.
