Please don't kill me...

First off, I have never posted in one of the art threads as I lack the talent of most of the amazing artists on this board.

A little backstory for you. Over the last three weeks my trash cans have been removed by my trash company. Seems that my neighbor across the street has decided to no longer pay his bill. Instead of taking his cans, they take mine. The first time, okay, I understand a technical error on there side. Two weeks later and it happens again. I call and complain that this is verging on harassment, "oh no sir, we would never do that"... I ask if it is OK to paint my house numbers on the cans so this does not happen again.?

The customer agent said "Yes, sir. Spray paint, markers, what ever you want!"

I think that was the wrong thing to say to a hot rodder and customizer. :)

So here is the start of what I have done.

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=9539&pictureid=94188

When I get some more time I think I will mask them up and add some heavily flaked scallops and flames.

What do you think so far? PS, I haven't picked up a Mack brush in a couple of years and half of my one shot looks like clay pucks.

Yesterday was an all nighter striping the fresh flames on a '33 3W.....getting the car ready for this weekends Goodguys show.

This is a "PENCIL RENDERING" of a 53' Chevy Grille that I took at World of Wheels in Indy this spring. This was challenging for how close up I made it. Hope all enjoy. Tell me what you think.

This car is nicknamed "Lil Darlin"
It's a 53' Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible
Owned by Bob and Diana Cossin of Rogersville, MO

If anyone knows them please let me know so I can send them a copy of the sketch. Thanks

I havn't posted much lately but I did get this painting done this week. First time I ever used lace in one of my paintings.

It's always good to check out the friday art show and check out some super artwork. Fine work this week also as usual.

I will be wandering around Billitproof TX this weekend though, so that will be good. Hope to meet up with some fellow HAMBers. I had planned on being a vendor but it just did not work out.

Revisiting the tables from last week. Here is 10 hours of accelerated oxidation in front of a Port-a-cool sprayed first with a rust accelerator. Will clear finish to kep it from rubbin off on the rich folks coffee mugs. Got asked a lot about the rust finish last week. And yes I can make it flaky. Syrup in water 50/50 will blacken in the sun and alter the oxidation in spots just like tree sap does. I have a piece that is a year old that looks worse than a Model A I used to have. Posted the rust not so much the tables...they're easy its the finish thats the work.

Onearmbandit: Your work is among the best in the world. Since I started pinstriping a few years ago, I've always tried to strive to make lines as clean as yours. I haven't gotten there yet, but I always try. Simply perfect.

I'd say! Absolute control over the brush and always awesome designs!

Awesome show this week!!!

Nothing new that I can show right now, but here are a couple oldies I did in college back circa 1993. These are both watercolor on 22x30 Arches 140# cold press. They were painted simultaneously (work on one while a layer is drying on the other).

Reminds me of the great advertising art from the late 50 through the 60's. Great colors. Nice work.

Those watercolors of yours are really, really nice.

DtroitDinosaur
The work on the old mags as you already know adds a really great rich feel. I did some like those myself at one point and I have one I need to finish. I had trouble with the paper going dark when I cleared the art. I did find a way around it though. Nice work.

I originally joined H.A.M.B. to find a pinstriper in the Atlanta area and youse guys recommended Brian Papa. Thanks, cause not only is he a real cool cat, but he travelled to the little ol' garage that was easing a 302 into my '63 and laid down a sweet 3-color job...

I didn't paint the helmets, only striped them;)....but the guy who does 'em just masks 'em off with a good tape and a fresh razor blade to cut around 'em.
Or you can drill out the rivets that hole 'em on, paint, then re-rivet 'em on.:)

This is only my opinion & not at all personal- just that this modern style of chop leaves me cold- it ain't HAMB. Not a straight line anywhere- proportionally depressing- bla bla
Once again nothin' personal- just that I grew up around Vincents , Nortons, Ducati's, BSA's etc.

As far as what year Ford it is, doesn't that little panel at the back edge of the front windows make it a 34? For the crank back vent option on the side windows. I don't think the 33 had them. Front grill is indeed 33 hood with the straight louvers makes the hood a 34.

Toddj,
I like your use of color in the work you posted this week!

Thanks

Nice work. My brother lives in Rogersville- i'll ask him if he might know the people who own the car.

Nice assault Todd. I absolutely love your style and technique. The way
you do the chrome and where you drop color everywhere else just
makes the eyes dance around the page.

Nutter, you need a better drawing for your avatar. I'm on it.

Regarding your friend's drawing? how old is this person? If it's a young'un
I'd say he's on his way but PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE....
I he's between< oh, say, 25 & 65, heck , 75 I'd say, "keep your day job.
But if its a senior with a wealth of life and dues paid behind him, I'd say
keep at it and have fun...
