Barn Find... well... garage find actually. This neglected 40 Coupe was stashed away in a local guy's garage for the last 20+ years. I don't have alot of history on the car but from the minimal modifications it appears to have been built in the mid to late 50's. It has shaved drip rails and a Later model 8BA Flathead.
The fuel in the car was old so I swapped the carburetor and installed a electric fuel pump and temporary tank to get it running. It fired right up and runs excellent. I have a new sending unit and poly tank to replace the corroded original unit. The flatty appears to be all stock, and has the original column shifted 3 speed that shifts great.

The body of the car is very solid. The floors have had some work done and the trunk floor was partially cut out for some reason and needs to be replaced or patched. It has very old paint that has plenty of authentic "patina":D. I was bored last night so I started polishing on it and did the complete passenger side and it actually shined up quite nicely. The frame is original and has some rust issues on both sides in front of the rear wheels. They are the only spots I see on the otherwise very solid frame.

Interior is old like the rest of the car but is pretty presentable. It has a stock seat that the back lifts up on. Sometime in the late 80's he decided to convert the car over to 12V and added some modern gauges.

I would really like to just put a drop axle under it and put some big n' little Firestone's on it and drive it, but I am just kinda burnt out on working on these things. I have a couple other projects going and I just took a new job and don't have time to get this one to where I want it.

I might consider a trade for a Running - Driving car that needs NO WORK in order for me to enjoy it. Every thing I own right now is in some sort of dis repair and I dont need another project. Please be reasonable in your trade offers... this is after all an all steel 1940 DeLuxe Coupe!

I drove the coupe up to a local cruise this weekend and it had a crowd around it all night. People just love seeing these old survivors... myself included.
