alleycat they run 1/8 mile there their normal weekly drags but for "special people" it magically turns into a quarter again. Nostalgia drags back in spring they run 1/4. I think maybe with the speed/et continually moving faster they dont have enough track lenght for a modern dragster shutdown . Long ago this was an abandoned stretch of highway that used to cross the river. I used to run C modified production there in mid 60s, always heard stories that originally strip ran toward river. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No rain today in Waco, pretty chilly, good drag racing weather though. They are claiming it's supposed to rain tomorrow & saturday, but I think it's bullshit... we all know how inaccurate the weather forecasts are here in Texas. I think Texas has some sort of disturbing effect on the Doppler Radar...Maybe it's all the belt buckles & spurs... or maybe just the ozone fog layer from all you assholes tuning your cars up before the drags...shame shame
See you all there...
BTW for those of you who don't know...
From Dallas:
I-35 Through Waco, Exit 303 in Temple @ Loop 290 around Temple til US190 then TX-95, Viola! you're there.
And when you pass through Waco near Baylor University, rev up your motors & yell, maybe I'll hear ya.
or stop by the shop if you'll be passing through on Friday,
We are at 8th Street & Jefferson, about 10 blocks from I-35, just past the river, on the other side of the big "ALICO" building downtown...

Tonight at the club there should be plenty of rides to check out. Krupa plays at 10:00, followed by Barfield and the Paladins. Should be a real good show with that lineup. And the LoneStars (and Shiner) will be flowin'.
Shit...I may wait and leave Saturday morning now if it's going to be raining tonight. It's not like I've never driven my shoebox in the rain and dark before, but I'd rather avoid it if possible.
I still have to adjust the clutch before I leave, too...
And oh yeah, coming from the north on I-35 it's the "H.K. Dodgkins Loop" exit that you take...there's a huge sign, it's hard to miss.

It's pouring up here. Just saw the weather and its supposed to clear out some before this afternoon. It looks dry everywhere south of Hillsborro.
Bass, I'll PM you my cell. Gonna try and leave Lefty's by 6:30. Call if you wanna meet up on 35 somewhere.
We definately make a stop at the Czech stop.
If I leave tonight, I won't make 6:30...but I'll be close behind you.
Knowing Lefty, you won't make it out to the road 'til around 8 anyway. Tell that sumbitch I'm keeping his cooler, too. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Figured the cooler was sold at the last swap meet.
We may not even make the 6:30. It would be good if we got ahead start cause I know the speeds you drive. You'll catch us anyway.
Buzzard, if it rains all weekend is the party at your house. We can do a Newton Boys video watching party. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Shit! This is going to be TOTALLY gay staying home. We got some movers now, but there's no way I can get out of moving. Gotta do it. I really hope I can make the next year run in the chopped A. I gotta get out my dental floss and bubble gum and go MacGyver on that thing!

Hudson, what do you mean your daily died and weather is a factor.Fix it on Sunday.
You got a Hudson thats runs don't you?
Sound a little scared to me. I understand if your trying to back out seeing as I got new plugs. All that talk you been doing, were racing on some street somewhere, rain or shine. It could be a wet one, better get your tires siped at Discount tire.

For what it worth I'll be ready at my usual 30 minutes early self.
Buzzard: I think the party is at your house for sure if it rains. We'll block sand that Angie-x-otica out for you with no guide coat.
HudsonHawk: No way you are backing out. I've heard enough about " The Rematch" for 14 months now. All these fancy carb setups, intakes, tranny beef ups and hidden nitrous bottles!
THE IMP VERSUS THE HAWK = TOMORROW
Maybe even mano to mano in the muddy pit area in Temple by the River.
Bass : I'm picturing my cooler with thousands, maybe millions of BB gun holes ( watch the ricochet) in it. Shot "Deliverance" style off of your back porch at Bass Performance Hall. Only Gatorade in it on return, since I quit drinking. Yep, on the wagon.

i am thinking my starter is out so i ahve to have my car towed to weatherford. i dont know how hard it is to change, if that is the problem and i dont know if 1 day is enough time to accomplish it. if its raining as bad there as it is here tommorow then i might work on the car instead. i am torn
i also put new plugs in as well
are you still leaving tonight?

Hudson... starter in what?
You should be able to replace most starters in less than 30 minutes.....
HC
Hudson...I've changed a starter in an S-10 before. It's not hard. 3hr. job max...and that's with going to the parts store and stopping for beer breaks.
Steve...your cooler still has about 7 Keystone lights in it from Dennison. Where the hell did you disappear to anyway?..and why in the hell are you on the wagon? Is it bb gun and/or minibike related?
I'm pretty sure I'm not going to leave until Saturday now...I've got too much shit to do tonight, and it's going to be raining anyway it looks like.

It won't rain out tomorrow.
Even if it did, which it won't, we could hang out at the club or the track and drink beer. We could call it a car show.

NO RAIN!
HUDSON: Be sure and lay right underneath while inserting that long starter bolt so it falls right in your eye. Then you get to wear a cool pirate patch on yer eye. Also it will block out distractions while concentrating on the tree lights.
Bass: On the wagon due to flashbacks such as these......

Well, I attempted to head to the track at around 12:30pm. It wasn't raining when I left the apartment in Waco, til about 10 miles outside of town it was steady drizzle. And since my little daily tends to play SLIPnSLIDE if it goes through spit on the road, I turned around at Exit 318, and took the access road back to Waco.
So, I hope it went well, if it went at all. And if my girlfriend and I weren't fighting right now I'd probably be heading down to Austin for tonights entertainment.
If it was rained out, is there a rain-out date set? If no, I missed it, fuck.

Ryan, Thank you for "pinning" this to the top for the last while. Our events wouldn't be remotely the same without the HAMB.
