Let's gow !
pic #1- This is my rendering of Mark Georgette's Fiat. This street driven monster rolled & tumbled in the deep end after this 9 second run at Heathcote in 1986. A rear tyre was punctured by a thrown uni joint.
Cuts & bruises for Mr. Georgette- and the demise this legendary street rod.
pic #2- This is for my pal Lenny- Falcons & Gibsons for ever !
pic #3- These Chevys were only ever released in Australia.

Thanks guys! I really like 49 Fords.
They were the first cars I can remember.
My father had one. I stood on the front seat
whenever we went somewhere. I can remember
the hole I wore in the upholstery. It's a good thing
he never had to hit the brakes hard
or I would have been a six year old projectile!
Thanks again!

ok, busy week with some top secret projects I hope to unleash on the world in the next few weeks. Until then, here is something different...it's a time-lapse video of me inking my "Wrenches and Skulls" piece, which was done over the course of about 25 minutes. Enjoy!

I've been thinking about doing this for one of my bikes. I move around too much I think, but we may still give it a shot. Although there would be some editing done to remove the spots where I screw up and throw things:)

I just finished this last week, this is AA/fuel34fordpu's 48 austin gasser built in 1963. He just had it painted and he wanted me to letter it up for him. Here's the finished product. some of it I did in blue varigated gold leaf. The first painting on the black trunk lid I did a couple weeks before he painted the car, before we knew we were going to paint it. The paint opportunity was kinda a fluke, but the car looks so much better because of it.

man oh man! every single week I'm blown away!
I wanted to share a logo I finished up this week for a fellow HAMB(er)
Hot Bob's Speed and Custom:
http://car-n-art.com/hamb/hotbobs_bw.jpg
and color version:
http://car-n-art.com/hamb/hotbobs_color.jpg
I also did a quick retune of the ACME Speed Shop t-shirt design :
http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs132.snc1/5660_98846245747_697245747_2167601_7476807_n.jpg
I needed to do this because when I took on the job, the 36 3 window was still in bare steel, no wheel covers, no headlights, no paint color. nothing. At least now it looks like a finished car!
Enjoy the 4th of July and try and keep all your digits!

Wow great work from everyone so far. I have road trippin pictures so far not really anything artsy. I am over 1500 miles into my road trip in the boogie van, and I made my first stop newstalgia wheel in Chattanooga. David and the guys where real cool about letting a crazy stranger in a van wander around there shop.
http://notstockphotography.smugmug.com/photos/580836902_jsVde-L.jpg
I met David on the Power Tour a couple weeks ago, very cool dude. I love those rides, they were very inspiring to me. My buddy was taking pics of the car, and he's like "do you want me to lower it?" Um, sure, but it's only and inch of the ground now? lol...boom, down it goes:D The whole car/bike/trailer setup is so wicked.

I am continually amazed at the amount of great artwork posted every week. Excellent work everyone! Here is a new one from me. "Thrush" muffler logo, laser cut pieces, individually painted then assembled. Four layers. about 17" dia base piece. Still needs a shot of clear coat.

Well I finally showed some of my work a few weeks ago, so I'll keep the trend going with another first: my first go around with the Wacom. Inspired by the work of Mr. Norwell, Gary C, and many others, I decided to give a Wacom a try. I'm very familiar with doing vector work, so I'm not new to computer work, but I had always used a mouse, and of course you don't work in a natural painting style when doing vector work.
I admit to cheating a little, While I did the initial sketch on the Wacom, I did the primary outlines on the car, as well as the layout for the bezel and lettering in Vector (CorelDraw X3) and exported them over to Corel Painter, but all the color work was done in painter. I love working in layers!!! I have had Corel Photo Paint and Adobe Photo shop for years(which also have layering), but never really became very familar with them, probably because I didn't have the Wacom and it was too hard to do stuff in them with a mouse. And I have Adobe Illustrator, but I started on Corel Draw years ago first, and by the time I got Illustrator, I was too set in my ways with CorelDraw, I just never put alot of effort into learning it. Now that I'm in love with working digitally, I can't wait to fire up my other programs to see what they can do now too! I can't get over how closely the Wacom mimics real world drawing and painting. It's not exact, and there is a learning curve, but all in all, pretty close.
I welcome any input, tips and tricks, what ever. Like I said, this is my first shot, so don't be too cruel. ;) By the way, anybody wanting to get a Wacom, I'll give ya tip. Go to Amazon and search Wacom Refurbished. I was able to get a 17 x 19 for less than $400, which is the cost of just a 9x12 normally. They're factory backed by Wacom, and come with everything, so I can't see where it's a loosing deal. I know they just released they're new version, and it's too early to find a refurbished one of those, but this model has worked good for a long time for other artists, I figure it's plenty good to get my feet wet. Anyway, here's my first job, which was for a customer (might as well get paid while I'm learnin'). It's been emailed to the customer for approval, but they're out for the Holiday I think, so your seeing it before them!

Sinclair, that's just killer. Reminds me of just about every Pinstriper I know!
Clysdale, terrific ink work. In my opinion, the most underestimated and difficult part of great illustration work. I always used a Rapidograph, but pens lack the great expressive quality of good brush work. My hat off to ya.
Ubermustang, great pencils sketches, I love great pencil work.

widewhitewalls - I like your Acme design a whole lot better now Keven!
Britt8M - Another bitchin' piece!
Acrochicken - Squindo rocks and so do you.
Lil' Toot - Now that you have the Wacom, you might try to brush-ink your line art and introduce some nice thick 'n thin line variations in that. It can even be done in vector; at least in Illustrator it can.
RunawayChair - cool to see that technical illustration from you; I used to do that kind of thing for my dayjob years ago. And thankx again for ordering my little book Keith!
