I had a truck block....seems some people do not want them because the intake valve side of the block has a cut in it to unshroud the valve and this lowers the compression. I overcame that by getting the 11:1 pistons and this unshruded block gave me in the neighborhood of 10.1:1 compression. I took a 454 crank and had the journals reworked and stuffed it in there too! 471 cube motor! I'd keep my eyes open for better heads though...the truck heads do not make the flow numbers that you need for to feed a big cammed 471. They will however produce some torque in the lower rpm range. The heads for the truck/low hp 409 are not the same as they high hp heads when it comes time to do some manifold swaps either. Some guy up in Michigan bought mine before I took it off the engine stand.
