I'm scrounging fittings to redo my brakes (again) and I keep seeing these A/n fittings. Are they better that than the tried and true 45* inverted flare we've all come to know and love/hate? What's the shortest lenght of tube I can get between my MC and res. prop. valve? I figured it would be at least the thickness of the flarer. What's your thoughts.

[/ QUOTE ] Flaring both ends of a short tube would be easy. But you need to remember to include the tubing nuts before doing the second flare.Been there, done that.

A/N fittings are used by the military mainly in aircraft; now becoming obsolete since the introduction of MS fittings. A/N fittings have a 37 degree flare and work just as well as the 45 degree automotive ones, just don't mix 'em up.

Mel; A MS fitting is a steel or stainless fitting, the end of the pipe has no flare, but has a collar that crimps around ,seals when tightened.Very similar to the stuff you see on oil and gas lines; brass collar slipped over copper line. The military version is for high pressure(1500psi+)The term MS stands for Military Standard if I'm not mistaken. If I had a scanner, I could sketch it out, but I don't; I'm having a bit of a problem getting one thats compatible with my windows '95. Sorry about OT there.
