Hi the names Ed Hawkins I live about 30 miles outside Portland Maine. I work as a marine machinist (mechanic) on submarines and have for 26 years. I built a 31 Ford coupe and that was where the moniker came from. I built it outside and alone just from what I could gleam from reading. The coupe was fun, set up with 350/400 12 bolt ladder bars 4" chop steel wheels and moon disc covers. A lot of bull from people because it was flat black but it was my way (1992). I am building a 32 Ford pickup 327/400 9" again by myself and expect to be done by spring. Right behind it is my 33 Ford Three window 500" Cad 400/9" rear. I make a plan and build to it. I think I get side tracked having a lot of projects but I really enjoy building and driving even if I am crazy enough not to know I can't build them by myself. I have been watching the HAMB for a while (two years)and am glad I finally signed up.Just coming in over the years I never realized the teck stuff was in a different section. I an not an expert on anything but I will input if I have seen anything that works.

Welcome! Sounds like you have (and had) some cool rides. Show us pictures if you can!

As for the Tech... most of it starts out here on the main board, then the moderators move it down the hall to Tech-O-Matic when the thread starts to fizzle out.

Looking forward to seeing how well a 500 inch Cad will fit in a 33. Keep us posted!

Actually it is a pretty easy fit on the 500 to 33 I have a 472 installed for mock up. lighter and smaller then a BBC. I will post some pictures when I figure it out.

Welcome, you must live in or near Kittery, and work at Kittery Naval Shipyard? I was stationed on the USCGC Tamaroa out of New Castle for three years. Was a radioman, had to go over to the shipyard everyday to pick up classified message traffic. Once again, welcome aboard.

Welcome Ed. Yeah, I'm with Slide, I'm gonna be diggin' a '33 3 window with a big Cad in it. Look forward to seeing it.

I'll bet there's not much that you can't build with access to all the good tools that the USN provides.

Have fun,

Big Daddy Eric
