13 hemis, countless flatheads, wedge motors, y-blocks, nailheads, rocket motors and even one of the all aluminum buicks! Corvairs with steering boxes, good stainless trim. Being in Ohio sheetmetal is wasted but glass trim and chassis stuff is usually good.

Popped open one car and the newspaper in the front seat says Pres Kennedy wants to move along with the A-bomb stuff(July '63) and another talks about the 'quake in Iran that killed 8,00 (1962). Found a '35 Ford truck popped the hood and it had a small block chevy in it. plates on it said 1964 that guy must not have known that it would never be traditinal and scrapped it! '39 Chevy 2 door sedan w/ rocket 88 in it!1935 slantback Ford rotted to the ground...what a shame.

Round on the end,

Oh-How-Hi-I-O!

Link doesn't work.

Are you talking about Bowman's place? Near Mansfield? Coolest private "collection" of stuff I've ever laid eyes on. Spent hours there this spring.

Bowmans' place???Please let me know where that one is! This is called S&W Auto & Truck Parts Depot. Started in 1950/51. Strange people own it...my tour guide was a 3 legged Pit Bull with a cataract!!! Missing the front leg...still raises his leg to piss! Ever see a Pitbull balance on two legs to piss? I named him Lucky...lucky to be missin' only one leg. Be a real bitch if he lost another...both fronts gone and I would named him 'Dozer.

Photo #5 looks like an English Bedford van that's been drastically shortened.I almost bought one of those once that was a camper.Had a pop up top that looked like a circus tent(green and white striped)and a sliding door on the right side only.Must have been made for US consumption as it was LHD.Zero to 60 in several months and it wallowed at anything above 25 MPH.Still wanted it(this was in the 70's)and my 1st wife(the crazy one)said I could live in it if I bought it.Should've taken her up on it;would've saved me a ton of money later.

Wouldn't it figure that 18 was the only one that didn't show up when I went there! I know where there's more of them T-pike cruiser's in a yard, most of em rotted but still Way Cool! I've got a few addy's stashed for vintage tin huntin. I'd be interested in Bowman's!!!SKR8PN

AND That Place Curly!!!! We all have our haunts. We should get together for a little tour of each's localities, or at least swap addy's of em!!! In one of mine a few months ago, I was checkin over this 35 Ford pu for usable stuff, it had a Y-block in it with 55 Fairlane steering col. and 57 Olds rear! Sadly, not even remnants of rear fenders http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Same place I got a complete 61 Olds col and tail lights, loads of Caddy parts and was GIVEN a set of 'MERC' FE valve covers!!! There's more stuff left in Ohio than people would guess, just gotta know where ta look http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Dead end road out be Nelsons Ledges.Take 422 West to 534 South @ 1st cross Road (1block) (Southington) Right on Herner Co.Line Rd 3mi toward closed rd. S&W on Right side. These are directions from their flyer. here is a phone # (330) 527-2157. This is in Portage county real close to the Geauga county line. "Cars from 1927 -1983 A walk through time". He charges 2 bux to walk through and that 4 barrel 354/392 Hemi was $2000.00 (HIGH!) but F-1 shock mounts are $20.00 each and Buick drums are $35.00 each w/o hubs. 331 Hemis are around $1500.00. 17" spoke Ford rims are $65.00 each. Most prices are high but the walk through is unbeleivable!

Rooster are you the guy that is out by Swanton? If so... That yard by the airport "Hog Heaven" still in business? If not I guess you got another one of my spots http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I'm gettin' real curious about this Bowman place now!!!

Rooster

Nope, Swanton's an hour away. The place up there is still open. Funky times since it's the boy runnin it now and he's also caring for his parents. He's even open on Sunday's. Seems a little more convenient for the clientel I guess since the place is specific to "collector vehicles".

There's other places closer with as much stuff, in similar condition's. The one, Bob's, has some outrageously low prices, sometimes. I've had friends pay what ya'd expect, but then I show up in my beat down ole truck with no more than 6" between dents around the whole truck and get stuff for Free even! Kinda feel ascreerd to even take that thing outa town, but it gets me some Awesome deals. And it's a SuperCab too, so I can take several people on a death ride at once! Them 61 Olds lights, $20pr., 59 Buick taillights- $20pr. stainless- handful for $5! Now's the time to go round. Weeds are down, poison ivy is dead or at least less viscious than summer time. I could take a few guys there, or meet up sometime.

Would be interested in goin to the other places this fall too, but I got no intention of takin that truck so far! Hopefully one a you guys can provide a proper yardin truck!!!

PM me dude! dshinault796@sbcglobal.net. I've got a buddy that has been lurkin for awhile and I think he signed up tonight and another that lurks from time to time. I'm in Willoughby (Lake county, East of Cleve). If those PA dudes can go yardin' why can't some of the Buckeye guys get together and do the same thing?

Rooster
11-02-2003, 12:28 AM
Because us Ohio guys notoriously SUCK at puttin together an event or meeting!!! Hell we can't even manage to meet up at Goodguys where everybody's already at the same event! But yeah...! Hey, we got fam in Willowick, don't know zactly how close that is?

Here's some photos from Bowmans place that I took this past spring. SKR8PN hosted a BBQ and tin hunt. A most awesome weekend spent in Ohio with him and his lovely wife.

Denise...ya got an address for Bowman? I think Rooster and I'd be interested in that place. I've got a driver side front door for that 26-27 Model T Fordor! I wonder if he is into old fashion horse trading?

Nope, sorry I don't. I could get there I think, by myself but I was taken there by SKR8N. I'm sure he'll chime in here shortly. I really don't think they (the sons) are into trading. It's their fathers stuff that they are selling. Seems like their plans are just to liquidate everything. They been at it a couple of years now, thats how much stuff is/was there. SKR8N knows them, he can fill you in on details.
