425 Dual Quad

Greetings from Ireland. My name is Nick, I'm an ex pat Englishman out here - love the people. Apart from the daily Caddies and a nice 73 Coupe deVille I've a 67 Town & Country wagon with a decent 440 TNT in it that runs 16's - not too shabby for a 4800 lb car with the 3 rows of seats in. And a 65 Skylark project with a built up 425 Dual Quad waiting to go in it.
Cheers! Nick

Welcome to the HAMB !
I also had a 1967 Town & Country wagon ! Mine was a dark Forest Green fully loaded with everything . Was a great wagon except for the bad wiring block at the firewall !
Can I ask how did you find one in Ireland ?

Hi Jim,
Thanks! Nice to be here!
I found it in Florida actually - good ol' ebay! Original 440 car, all options except for the Sure Grip and rear dual zone air conditioner. Has power everything - seats, windows, rear tailgate, etc, has working a/c and a faded paint job, American Racing Outlaw alloys , white letter tyres, 2.5 inch low restriction exhaust, 73 Polara unicast discs so it stops awesomely and a hidden 1500 watt stereo.
I've just put an ignition kit on it from Don at FBO and swapped out the Edelbrock 750 for a Holley 750 but when it warms up it still doesn't pull strong enough. I've noticed there is a sort of butterfly thing on the bottom of the passenger side cast exhaust manifold. I'm wondering if it is a exhaust gas restriction device to allow the car to warm up quickly and am wondering if it is staying closed. It was pretty jammed up. I've tried to free it off but doesn't seem to make any difference. Does this ring any bells with you as to what it could be? I don't want to go pulling the exhaust to have a quick look and maybe take it out unless I know what it is incase a stud shears and then I'm in a bigger problem.
regards, Nick

Thanks 50scotbolt.
Nice house eh? It was built by one king John around 1200 AD. In fact it was used as the set for Braveheart - you may recognise it - It is Trim castle in county Meath. A large wooden castle structure was built to the right in the picture and burned in the last scenes of the film.
The garage isn't bad either - 25' x 50' and tucked away so I can make lots of noise and not worry anyone.
Cheers Nick

Its a 355 sbc I yanked out of a little drag car that wasn't using it. put a 1960's cross ram on it with 2 500cfm edelbrock. Does OK. Gears would put it over the edge. Heres a shot of the front for ya.
