That POS isn't beatup until it's been run through a few Michigan winters Dave.Just pack it up and send it out here and I'll do it up right fer ya!
BTW Jerry Bennett(the guy who built my 57 Safari)called last night and wanted his car back(yeah right). He's living over in back of Sonny Pasternak's shop in Hamilton now.I told him to go harass Sonny for awhile.Jerry had a pig valve installed in his ticker so he's housebound for awhile.
Maybe if my wife gets hungry enough for a Hilltop steak or a couple of lobsters,we'll sneak out for a couple days.TTYL

Dave,
thanks for those progress pics !!! That was about time ! I surely missed your input regarding your Merc here but as we can all see it's on a good way !
A friend of mine has a '64 Impala and he wanted the car to be shiney black and it was a real pain in the ass for the painter to get the body that straight...so I know what you are going through, very, very time consuming if you wanna do it right...keep up the good work,it's definitely worth all that "trouble" !!!

The bike looks good too ! Like that front(?) FL fender used for the rear.Classic Bobber style. What hardtail conversion is that ? Is it a section from an old frame or are they availalble this way like they are for Triumph's ?

the front is cut coils, and frame c'd for upper control arm claerence. but its getting dropped spindles now... the rear is shackles flipped, springs dearched 3" , 6" blocks, c'd frame , and raised floor tunnel.. with air shocks.. it actually rides pretty nice and i tow a trailer with it.. it will ride much better in front with the new spindles and modified lower control arms.

Hey Dave,
there's a very special look about a rubbed out shiney black paint job but as you know for sure, the body must be super straight as you can see every little wave.
You know that.Well, dark green sounds pretty cool too !!! Either way, your Merc will look bad ass but I believe the dark green will make your Merc even more outstanding.I even dig your Merc as it is now, black and gray primer, full of dust etc. What I wanna say, your Merc will look bitchin' no matter what color you are going to paint it...it has THE look by that awesome chop and that mighty cool stance...

And =mike=,I know you're watching this.Did you find any pics of the other black Merc yet ? Thank you.

It almost looks black in the pictures now. Is the copper pearl going to lighten it at all, or will it stay that dark? Either way, it's going to look killa as they say!

As you know this grille here is made of '51 Merc bumper guards and also looks very good.

I just got home from Assguys' shop and man that Merc looks beautiful in person! Assguy was buffing the shit out of it...by sliding off it with his bare hairy ass. I told him that technique would take to way long but he said it the longer the better.

Damn Dave, Just when I thought that car could not get any sweeter you turn up the dial to 10.

Hope to get my 54 back on the road within the next month. Going to get some new paint as well. I think I am going blue heavy flake with some candy mixed in. Not sure yet.

As i said before the week went 'BYE BYE', one of the best treatments of a merc EVER... the rear window looks perfect, usually with such a big chop the rear screen ends up fucking everything up, what rear screen is it? merc? but done right?

Beautiful.

Looks great Dave, don't ya just love how that color jumps out in the sunlight but yet looks damm near black in shade or at night. My Chebby vert is a very similar green and acts the same way.

Well, I have to say I really like the end result. The first pics of the green fender made me think it was way too dark, I could barely see the green, but in the daylight it looks awesome.
The grille turned out really cool too.
That's a beauitul car.

its a stock 50 merc opening, but i use lexan , because the original glass is convex and i dont like the "bump" it has. it was ruining the fastback look i was after
