i went jumping around the nastiest junkyard in south east michigan today.I was on a recon mission for some seats for another hamber.I got my new digi cam the other day and i wanted to snap a few shots for some people. This place is a little well known secret with michigan folk. They are on of the only places around with old tin still left. And they wont crush untill there is just about nothing left of the car.The old guy that runs it is a ornary old bird but ive known him for some years now and lets me walk around out back for hours on end.Today was a short stay of 2 hours. It seems every time i go i find more stuff i never noticed before. this time was not any diffrent.
Well ill let the pictures do the talking. so please wait till i post all the pics i have about 8 to post. and its just a hand full of gems i cam across mixed in with the late models. Some things i dont know what there are (im still learning) so feel free to fill in the blanks.

First up is a 37 or so chevy humpback sedan. very ruff shape.

That flattie looks like it might be a 331 Lincoln motor. Hard to tell, but those look like BIG (flat) heads.

DIRTYT
12-09-2004, 04:48 PM
yea dvlscoupe its top secrete. me and a few other hambers know about it. i can take ya there but it will involve a blind fold and a donkey http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

and i dont think thats a lincoln motor unless it was swapped in cause its sitting in a 49-50 shoebox. ill get more pics saterday when i go back. i had to be kinda sneeky becuase i diddnt want them to think i was from the e.p.a http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif trying to get pics of the waste land!

and kartsa ill look to see if they have any good horn rings for your buddy. i allready have a huge list going of stuff to ge prices on for other hambers...

That's a 55 Olds. You can tell by the tusks on the grill. 56-no tusks.

Aren't those old junkyards interesting and fun??? It is amazing how you keep seeing new stuff. Most of the oldie yards are gone here in SW Missouri...just lost a big one south of here (J & M in Goodman, MO) to the crusher. Owner had health problems and no buyer could be found for the place. That Edsel in pic #3 reminds me of one we had when I was a kid....about the same condition then too! Except that one is a 2dr and ours was a 4dr HT Citation model.

DirtyT, if you don't mind would you see what condition the trunk lid is in? i need one that will fit a two door sedan and i THINK the 4 door sedan will fit. if it is all rusted out forget it. i can find a solid one somewhere.

I was gonna say GRAB THAT OLDS GRILLE BAR its gold in trading material, other than that, the 37 chevy cpe needs to be saved FAST, hell even the deck lid is there ,Can you say GASSER! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

DIRTYT
12-10-2004, 11:52 AM
yea 4t64rd allready has dips on the grill bar. and that 37 is trashed so bad there is no saving it. there are even rust holes in the dash http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Mike Landwehr
12-10-2004, 11:57 AM
dang shame then,it looks like it was a gasser at one time or at least a rod

DIRTYT
12-10-2004, 12:57 PM
well i know it was never a gasser there is no straight axle on it. the stock spindle has some huge gearbox looking thing attached to it. i was kinda confused by it. its kinda hard to tell what was going on with it in person. i does have one good headlight bucket though!

Next time you are out there, could you check and see if the Zephyr has the dash in it and the center gauge. I would be interested in it if it does.

Damn,
That looks like mine when I started....EXCEPT IN BETTER CONDITION!

Do me a favor next time you are at the yard, check and see if there is any Edsel Dealership items on the car. Items like license plate frames, chrome Dealership tags on the trunk or on the back of the car and if it has Edsel floormatts.
I am a huntin' for those.
Thanx.

Now that spring is on the way I'm in for ANY trip to local yards. I know of one north of Lapeer I need to get to again. Dirty I wanna go wit you!!!! Actually on that 49 chevy there are still some parts I'd take, bumper, fenders etc. but it's prolly crushed.
Anybody been down Grange-Hall road west of Holly?? There is some nice items out that way, anyone know the story??

u all know what this thing is. still have drive train in it!

I don't - What is that car. on my last trip, I saw one of these by the side of the road - I have pics somewhere, and was wondering if I should pursue it. It looked in pretty good condition, and I like the overall look of the car!
