well, its time. Seeing how spike (Hotrodphotos) took lots of photos last night its only a matter of time till its in all the BIG MAG'S.
anyway. I love TUBS. that's why I built my 40 and that's why I wanted to build this.
Secondly, I have always wanted to build a complete body, not because an original cant be found. But because I've needed to prove to myself that I could do it.
so with limited tooling, a low material cost and a lot of determination Tokyo and I began to build the project were calling "The TUB"
leading off we have our own TALL PAUL modeling his "MUG" in the TUB.
This was where we left off at the end of the evening on the 12/01/04 (a week ago). And where we started last night.

I kinda made it my "rule" that I wouldnt "touch" the car except on the days that tokyo and I decided we were going to work on it. the one exception I made was to roll the car out in the sun last saturday and shoot some pics.. heres a decent view

Rub-a-dub-dub. Two fags in the TUB. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I had a real good time last night. thanks for the invite. It's cool to get together with other car people and learn stuff from them or do things I haven't done before. Cheers to Tall Paul. Have a safe trip and stay in touch.
Nice center punch http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Sure you give me your rusty shit and you make yourself a new one. Now I see how it is!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Why would anybody hate it? You built it yourself. Looks cool!

Looks great Jeff, I really dig tubs. I'm guessing those where sedan quarters, (but the metal looks to clean to be old). I like the point and the way you curved them into the back panel, Smart work.

Looks good man. You've come a ways since those "top secret" photos you sent me.
Do you have an english wheel to roll those rear curves?
I have found that the tough part is not to make a part, but to make one for the other side that looks exactly the same! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Damn, that's amazing.
In that last picture it looks like there's a freshly murdered ghost hovering between the dudes.

I don't think Jeff is wearing any pants.
I hope to make it out some time to help. What's the plan for the rear end -- looks like the wheelwells will be tubbed? I'm good at concept sketches if you need one for inspiration and direction. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

THanks everyone who showed up...nice to meet outside of the "computer" world...
This project has been alot of fun...
Talk about learning curve and metal working confidence...
I am still a dry humpin homo though...
To answer the question about the back section..it still needs to be pulled together..the flares on the back will be removed or hammered over..
Anyone got a shot of what the wheel wells are supposed to look like?? We need some visuals to reference from..
Thanks again to everyone...

"anyway. I love TUBS."
What about Crockett?
Looks like a fun project. Might have to cut outta work early some Tuesday and check it out first hand. What's it going to sit on? Will it have SBC motorvation? Or do we know too much about the secret already?

Gus, the rear section needs modified.. it is higher than its supposed to be..
Plowboy.. I have an ewheel.. But didnt use it on this project... I could tell you how we did it.. but THEN I would have to kill you..... LETS JUST SAY A SET OF SHRIKER / STRETCHER DIES GO ALONG WAY..
NAPPY.. the plan was JUST to build the body.. and sell it.. Tokyo and I have already achieved what we had intended to achieve with the project.. (learnin wise) really theres only one more thing to do..
Haring... it will not have heavy "tubs" in the rear wheel well openings.. we intended for this to be a highboy..

You can see what i started with, The rear wheel wells gradually become flush...
Heres that 4 door tub i was talking about. Couldnt find the back shot but as you can some what see it gradually becomes flush but still has the lip for the wheel well..

....
Isn't it hard to work with it being so cold up there? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Did you put a mirror in it so you can fix your pompadours? All that wind could crap your style.
Looks good guys, maybe I can check it out in a few weeks when I am home.

It was a Rough drive out there. Pouring rain on the Jersey/ Pa turnpike with a light truck isnt a great idea.
It was well worth it, had some good laughs.. Good job on the body guys. I still think you should build it and not just sell the body alone.
The only thing spikes good at:
