Nice start, guys.

Since 2004 I have been creating a coloring book for the Cruzin' the Park car show here in the Detroit Metro area. A buddy and I put on a color contest for the kids at the show and give the books and some cool diecast cars away to everyone and bikes to the winners in each age group. It is a blast.

Anyway, I started doing some concept sketches for this years cover and figured I would post them and the previous years cover art....

and the concepts for this year...

Finally something from me.
There is a story to this one. After scanning the painting, I clear coated it, and put it out on top of our car outside to dry.

My wife went shopping with it on top. It was not there when she came back.
I went out looking for it and spotted it on the road as a car was going over it.

Hardly anything even happened to it.
Whew!

My sons cub scout pine wood derby car. With a lot of "assistance" from dad.

<a href="http://s519.photobucket.com/albums/u354/RG-Photography/?action=view&current=Pinewood-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u354/RG-Photography/Pinewood-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

He wanted to design it after the Bonneville car "The Red Head". I told him it might be impossible, but we'll try.
<a href="http://s519.photobucket.com/albums/u354/RG-Photography/?action=view&current=Pinewood-2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u354/RG-Photography/Pinewood-2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s519.photobucket.com/albums/u354/RG-Photography/?action=view&current=Pinewood-3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u354/RG-Photography/Pinewood-3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Turns out the car was way to heavy with all the bondo on it. Had to drill out nearly all the pine just to lighten it up. I was quite proud of the design he choose and my limited sculpting skills, and we had to ruin it by drilling nearly all the wood out. Now it's just a Bondo shell. We didn't win any races with it.

<a href="http://s519.photobucket.com/albums/u354/RG-Photography/?action=view&current=Pinewood-4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u354/RG-Photography/Pinewood-4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Well this one is on a somber note, a great friend and fellow rodder Bill Strassburg passed away suddenly a few months ago. We decided to build a custom urn for his ashes. All of Bill's car were black and include a 1932 Sport Coupe, 1947 Ford convert and a 1937 Humpback ford sedan... only fitting we use Hotrod black for his remains. He also was ready to have us woodgrain a 38 deluxe dash to put in the 37. So a pair of woodgrain Ford hubcaps welded back to back was in order. His family was thrilled to get it and Bill is traveling in style to the MSRA Back to the Fifties where they are having a small memorial.... Sure do miss ya Bill!!!!!

I am a fan of the Phantom 409 race team.
Jim, Jim, and Winston must be honored to have the Phantom and Winston penned by Jeff Norwell.

Their project truck hauler for the 55 is going to be awesome too.
maybe even another inspiration for some fantastic Norwell art!

50 years ago, this summer, was the first race -
Kahoka Missouri was the place.
This tribute coupe is drawn from memory. Seems the car was Jim Baker's. I know it was one of first to race at Tri-State. Can't recall if it was Pontaic or Nailhead. Do you have memories or pixs to post?

....By the way I'm 19....

Everyone starts somewhere and its nice to see young blood drawing old hot rods. Keep up the good work! (I had to spell check you post though ;))

Does it look like the LEAD SLINGER??? What do you think?? Here's the coolest Father's Day present ever!!! My 14 yr old son painted it for me and just finished yesterday. It is huge 4'x4'. He's a big fan of Coop, Norwell, and of course Gary C. Awhile back, either Gary C. or Norwell, posted comic strip on the hamb. He went nuts over it and still talks about how it inspired him. Maybe the Lead Slinger needs his own comic book series. I bet it would be one heck of a story. Warning...Kids don't smoke cigars... use a torch w/out a shield... melt lead w/out a mask... but if you want to chop, section, etc..... work 7 days week, 14 hours a day and you too can .......... Man! Killer work from everyone (as usual). I haven't posted on here for a while. My square job leaves me little time for my art, but I'm working to change that. Anyway, here's the art I'll be donating to the Dammit Dave benefit at the Austin Speed Shop tonight. I just finished it about 10 minutes ago. I hope the paint is dry by 7:00. Haha. This one is acrylic and one shot on clay board. The colors are a little off because my digital camera sucks, but you get the idea.

a beautiful piece!

I looked up and it's 7:30 in the evening. Took some time to look in on the art show and SMACK! That photo of Josh welding on his little chopper was a terrific surprise. Maybe some wisps of smoke from the welding, in a hellish tribal style. . . be a great promo piece. Ah well, here is my entry for Friday (done 6 years ago)

LowCab, I love your work!
There's so much great stuff here this week, it gets tough to comment on all of it.
I was going to tell you how much I appreciated yours but, as usual I'm under the gun with Yellow people deadlines so I was holding off.

It's getting harder each week. Unbelieveable amount of talent here on Friday Art!

Hello, I have a Japanese demon mask I did for sun tszu energy drink company. A bowling pin I did for Michael who throws Bottrop Kustom Kulture and I striped over a Max Grundy poster at Bottrop in Germany 2 weeks ago. Also yesterday I did a giant Tiki on the back of a T. He gave me a pic to make into a line design on the spot.
