what are the thoughts of fan relays.my 32 runs at 205 degrees.it doesn't puke it's just a bit hotter than I want it to run. the relay starts the fan at 185 and shuts off at 170 which means the fan runs all the time. I dont mind the way it works just that the fan is going to wear out,and leave me out in the middle of the hot desert.
You don't say why you are running at 205 degs.Is the radiator not doing it's job? Is this a Flathead or Small blk.? Is the fan a puller or pusher? And do you have a shroud, and what thermo are you running? Help me help you. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Put some electrical tape on the gauge and quit caring about it. Your motor isn't going to fall apart or seize up because it's at 205 degrees F.

I would double check the thermostats that you are using. As you know there are many different temp ratings. Regardless of the motor, it may be somehting as simple as a thermo change. Hell, the thermostat you are using may be bad and it is sticking closed and creating a hot run. A lot depends on your motor, idle, timing, etc. Lots of stuff to check, but I have an incling that it is thermostat.
Thank you for the info. I have a small block in my 32 pu thats putting out 450 hp prox. It runs at 190 deg all day with the fan on and only go's over 200 degs. If I shut the fan off. My guess is the radiator is so-so or the thermo is not working correctly. Pull the thermo out and run it and see what you have, that way you can find the problem--TV http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
