Well the 53 I bought from Bleed is ready for the road. It has been switched to 12 volt, split manifold, dual exhaust, tuned up, and fresh paint. I know it's flat black with red wheels, but I like it that way. I think it looks pretty good for being on a budget. The roof is white with HOK silver metalflake. The pics don't do the flake justice. This is my first time painting a car, and the first american car I've ever owned and I love it! Only vw's in the past for me. I plan on putting 2" drop spindles in the front, and maybe painting the bottom half a satin pearl blue. Thanks Lukester and Fancyboy for your help. I didn't post pics with my into so here are some. I hope they work.

great looking car! good job! Get that front end down alittle and you can get away without a chop for a while.
Paint combo looks good too.

Thanks for the kind words. The plan is to put some 2" drop spindles out front. Bob I actually thought about putting the scallops you had on it back on it. I think it needs a little something. Maybe pinstriping or something, or a nice pearl satin paint job on the bottom half. It's still a work in progress. Thanks for the encouragement!

Some further encouragement. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I kinda like the green, so I tinted it in that hue. Just trying to give you some ideas. I like what you've got. Have fun with it. I lowered it for you, too. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I really like those scallops. It looks more like a 60's custom with them. Satin green with those scallops would be pretty cool. Thanks for the photoshop help.

It's a damn cool car, then again I'm a sucker for '49-'54 Chevys. Long the forgotten bubble boy, overshadowed by the tri 5s, but to me they're the coolest.
Me wants a chopped '49 torpedoback one day.
And haring your rendition is the tits.

The car looks good man. Those 150 series 53's with the small back window aren't as much work to chop as a 210,Bel-air,or 54 chevy. good luck with it man.

Save your money for chromed bumpers though. Painted bumpers really suck, pet peeve of mine. I had them too, lack of dough. NO bumpers would be better.
I know you'll get 'em one day.

Thats what I was going to say. The bumpers is way more important than lowering, scallops and whatnot the way I see it. Otherwise, Im partial to these cars myself, and yours look pretty straight and nice. Congrats an have fun.

I hear ya Nads and Sailor. I really want to get chrome bumpers, but chrome isn't cheap. Hopefully before spring. Maybe a christmas present for myself. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wow, Jerry Reed, very nice, very inspiring. I like what ya did.

A little pinstriping would go a long way. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks for the kinds words, guys. I sort of meant my rendition to have a chrome bumper but didn't feel like photoswapping one from another photo so I quickly shot it with color. It looks like a white bumper rather than chrome. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Chrome is expensive, but you'd be surprised what you might find out there. Bad chrome still looks better than paint. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

In the end, if you go 60s kustom route, you could use split bumpers or custom nerf bars.

Hey Jerry,

DID YOU EVER PAY LUKESTER? Last I heard you owed him money for all the work HE did on that car. Just wondering, since Lukester had to close the shop, due to no PAYING customers. Again, just wondering....

Yeah dude I paid him. I don't think $300 is gonna make or break a business. I don't think he had any customers and that was the problem. No customers = no paycheck.

LUKESTER

TOPDEAD... JERRY is cool, and owes me nothing, he went above and beyond... No problems here.... Shop Closed cause I'm lazy, poor and didn't really want to do it. We won't discuss it anymore cause it really aint worth talking about...... Jerry..... so that fucker shoots fire huh? Get ahold of me, I got some pics for you of that car when we first drug it home.... Looks PRETTY good now though..... LUKESTER

Yeah bro it shoots fire. It's leaking some oil though. Father-in-law is gonna help me put a new rear main seal in that sucker. Otherwise she runs and drives great. Thanks for the props. Lukester I also want a ride in your truck. Preferably to the nudie bar. It looks killer!
