I am new to this a guy at National Chevy inSt.Paul, MN told me this was a good place to get info and feed back on the car I am starting to work on it is a 1950 Chevy Deluxe Styleline. The car is actually my dads but I started on the project cause he had a massive stroke on March 31. 09. He did all the body work and paint on my car a 1964 Chevy Bel Air so I am returning the favor and moving on getting his car done for him

I and he wants to put a small block V8 in it. I know there is alot to do to it so a V8 will go in it. I get lost on all the info about rear axles and what will work and how much modifying will need to be done to the parts to get it to work

so will an S-10 rear end work and what years ( I have been told that it will) but they measure differently than the torque tube does so any options for me to try and . Iam thinking I will put a Mustang II front suspension kit on it but not sure what to do out back

thank you Joe

Welcome to the HAMB, That's real cool that you are repaying the favor to dad. My uncle just had a stroke too, that's never fun.

If you do a search here you will find alot of info on S-10 rear ends in '49-'54 chevies. I have never used an S-10 rear (I have a late model camaro rear end installed by a previous owner), but I think it's the 4wd ones that work (don't quote me). Also there is alot of '49-'54 specific info in the "Rockstars with torquewrenches" group. Here is the link.
