It was owned by Harry Hoskins and built at Barris Kustoms. An earlier version in pink and gray was on the cover of Car Craft in 1956 or so. Check out the book "Barris Kustoms of the 1950s".
The 1955 Chevy had a 2.5in chop, 1956 Lincoln taillights, 1956 Corvette grille, and 1955 Dodge side trim. Hope this helps.
Hey Brush, Isn't that a Barris Kustom? Thought I saw it in his book-Kustoms of the 1950's. Hope this is at least a lead.
I'm with ya. Makes an overdone car look like somethin' real sharp. [ QUOTE ] ya know, looking at it makes me wonder why more people don't do this to Chevs.. [/ QUOTE ]
Not the same car but I saw this one at Frankenmuth this year. I agree, more '55s should be customs. Photo 1
That 1st '55 is one of my favorite Barris rides.I know most people dont dig on the tri 5's, but they've always made badass lowriders which isn't all that far off from a badass kustom!!
[ QUOTE ] .and very nice!!!!!! love that car!!!!! is it yours kustomm 55? [/ QUOTE ] I wish it was. I could only hope to turn my pontiac into something that awesome.
Tri-five Chevys should be customized a lot more simply because tri-five owners are a bunch of tightly wound resrorers. I had a '57 Chevy custom that drove the locals batty.
I'm with you Nads Tri5's end up as street machines or restored stockers but no one ever messes with them, hell its not like they are rare or anything and with a little work they look way different and very sharp.....
That 1st one is amazing. I personally think Barris's stuff is hit or miss. Some are beautiful, some butt-ugly, but that one really hits the mark for me. I would love to have a kustom 55 just so I could go to all the tri-5 shows & tell all of those nit-picky resto guys to blow me. It would be really fun to tell them it had a Ford engine! They'd probably go into cardiac arrest.

Great shot's of some sweet 55 chevy Kustom's!!!! Great topic Jeff!! Nads.....what's a tightly wound resrorers.....or is it "reservoir" as in tight ass or head up their ass!! I agree considering I own a modified 55 and have been given the cold shoulder many a time by other tri five owners in the past for not having a hood on my shit box. Throw some shot's up of that 57 kustom of yours!
Could somebody please post pics of the '55 Chevy convertible kustom built by Sam Barris? That has to be one of the nicest tri-5 Chevy kustoms I've ever seen. Bo Huff built a replica of it not too long ago if I'm not mistaken. Real dynamite car
I think this one is the coolest 55....check out hte chicks inside... No not really But here is another picture of one of the 55´s posted before. Killer!
