I just called this guy with a '56 Chevy Belair 2 door hardtop. In the add it said no engine/tranny, straight body, some rust. He tells me that the front floors, tail pan, trunk, quarters and behind the fender on the drivers side are pretty rusty. Almost everything else on the car needs to be redone aswell. He's asking $4900 Canadian for it. Is it just me or this quite a high price for this?

Sounds a bit pricey to me...especially with all the rust...found a car stash in Utica, Nebraska this past weekend...guy had about 150 late 40's cars to late 60's stuff...any make you'd want...mostly two door hardtops and convertibles...his highest was only $3500 and that included rust...in nearly every car we looked at. Had a '57 Bel Air 2-door post for only $750.00...but it had rust where I didn't think '57's ever rusted!!!

Caveat Emptor!

make a trip to Nevada and get my 55. Very little rust compared to those cars....

Wow. Sounds like I'm looking in the wrong place. I wouldn't say I'm really looking for a project, but I'd like something different, that I can build myself from more of a project sort of stance. Rather than trying to be Poncho http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
