signatures are limited to 100 characters. i understand that.

but some folks have larger signatures and in the "edit your signature" block it talks about stuff i don't understand. it sounds to me like you can link to a larger signature.

is that what folks are doing?

could someone explain to me how i can do this?

my signature is long. i didn't have to do anything special. maybe i was grandfathered in and had my signature before the 100 character limit. i know, i wasn't much help.

yeah, mine used to be longer, but when i changed it (many months ago) the last time the 100 character limit had been put into effect and i was "caught".

The "increase size" "decrease size" is in reference to FONT size, not number of characters.

I'm guessing the larger sigs are grandfathered. I wonder, don't know, does it count spaces and blank lines as characters?

Also, I can edit signatures, I never do, but I wonder if I edit your sig if it will go past the limit?

What you want in it?

yes, my longer signature was still there (grandfathered) until i redid it and it wouldn't accept the new signature. when you try to edit it with more characters it says:

"Your signature cannot be longer than 100 characters excluding BB code markup.

Your signature contains too many lines and must be shortened. You may only have up to 7 line(s). Long text may have been implicitly wrapped, causing it to be counted as multiple lines."

i routinely change my signature. that is; i change the quote at the end.

so, it looks like i'll just have to keep finding short quotes.

unless, of course, ryan decides to allow longer signatures. allowing a couple more lines and 200-300 characters would be nice. 'course bandwidth limitations might preclude this.

thanx for taking the time to read the post and consider the implications.

i still get the same message when i try to edit my sig.

"Your signature cannot be longer than 100 characters excluding BB code markup.

Your signature contains too many lines and must be shortened. You may only have up to 7 line(s). Long text may have been implicitly wrapped, causing it to be counted as multiple lines."

for someone who likes to talk as much as i do 100 characters just isn't enough.

BUT, if it's gotta be that way just tell me and i'll shut up...
