    Last night was it...
I brought the 53 to my good friend Billy's shop for the final once over and paint..
I finished that up when our own Big Cheif showed up to see what's going on..
Chief and Billy helped me tape it up...and once that was done..i was to excited to just go home and sleep.
I decided it was time for paint.

    That was an 1:00 am..
Well, i got home this morning at 9:00, went to sleep for a few hours and was back up for Turkey day dinner, and back to the shop to pull the tape off.

I have to say thanks to a couple people on here before i go posting pics of anything.
    First, Big Cheif.
He gave me some advice in the beggining, was my "eye's" as i was painting in case i missed anything, and was the 'Mixmaster' taking care of my paint mixing so i didn't have to stop halfway to do it..
For that, THANKS A LOT MAN!

    And second to Tuck.
I talk to him quite aften, and in one of our conversation's, i mentioned i needed a gun to paint my car and was gonna buy one, but was short on cash and wasn't gonna be able to buy a gun for a little while..
Plus he's given me a bunch of tips on painting..
Considering this is the first car i've ever painted, all the info these guy's gave was priceless!
    Anyway,
Tuck shipped his Iwata paint gun to me priority mail just so i could shoot this thing.
Without the gun, nothing would have happened!
    Thanks Tuck!!!
Both you guy's had a BIG part of this for me, i appreciate it............

Now..like i said, this is my first paint job, so there's a few small flaw's....and i hung a few 'curtain's' in the clear [IMG]..but it's all good.
I'm going to wet sand it tomorrow, then rub it out.

    Here's the pics...

This is when i started cutting in the color in the hard to get at area's. I had no clue they took this pic..
I think Billy' was trying to tell me something about the time.

This pic was actually taken before i was done, but Chief was heading out and thought it would be cool to take a pic marking the time we basically finished..
It was about an hour after that by the time i laid the last coat of clear though.

Absolutely gorgeous car! Any more pics of the build and chop? Roofline looks nice, and I love the taillights. Keep up the great pictures when you assemble it and start driving it around... [IMG]

Yeah, the hangers are in the clear, so i'm not too concerned. I put the clear on pretty wet, so i know i can sand and rub them, and whatever dust is in there out.

I had a little bit of stress with the base at first..my first coat went on a little funny..i didn't have any practice with Tuck's gun other than running thinner through it.. [IMG]..just grabbed it and started painting.
But it all worked out once i got the hang of it.

Probably should have practiced a little first.Oh well.

The color is called 'Sunset orange metalic', but it's more of a burnt orange-copper mix.
It's a GM factory color with a LOT of gold pearl in the mix.
I didn't even know it had the pearl in it til i picked up the paint last friday. The guy who mixed it was suprised it had so much for a factory color.
When you mix the paint and pull the stick out, rather than seeing the copper-ish color, all you see is gold. Kinda cool.

    Tony.

Yeah, first time for a lot of thing's with this car..
First inline i've owned, first time i've ever chopped anything, first time i've done this amount of sheet metal mods, first time i've done a full paint job, and first time for heavy body work..blah blah blah, you get the picture i'm sure.

I guess you can learn anything if you don't have the cash to pay to have it done..
Still learning though.. you never stop as far as i'm concerned.
