Feder and his son Fedsled are choppin this one, with a slanted post this time. When I left this morning, they were going to lower it a little more. They should be mostly finished this weekend...........OLDBEET
Lookin good. Glad to see someone else from the land of green moss on the board. You didn't have that fushia colored custom 50 merc in this area? I used to see it at the Longhord tavern in Smokey Point all the time and them it just sorta dissapered.
Right On.. Always nice to see someone make more progress in a day than I have in like 5 or 6 months. lol Can't wait to see the end product. take care and happy thanksgiving, isaak
We did thanksgiving different this year, Dad(FEDER) and I pitched in and bought mom a bus ticket to go away for the weekend so we could start choppin his 49 merc. About nine this morning I hear the rumble of a healthy big block and a knock on the door. turns out It's "OLD BEET" and he has a plate full of turkey, stuffin, deviled eggs and a pumpkin pie and says you guys can't eat pizza on thanksiving(pizza was are plan since mom was gone). How cool is that, big thanks beet. Beet helped us lay out all the lines and start cuttin. We decided to do A slanted chop this time since mine is straight. We got the roof off today and cleaned up. we set it back on and made up the front post and the rear just forward of the rear window. Now on to the B-pillars. thanks again "OLD BEET" the FEDDERS
Man, I hope you didn't get the WD40 mixed up with the whipped cream! Looks like the merc is gonna look awesome, and what a great way to spend Thanksgiving. I'm jealous!
Looking good guys. Keep us posted on the pictures. Happy thankgiving to all. Is the caddy a 390 0r 429? I can't tell by looking. TP
First off I gotta say Im one lucky SOB to have such a wonderful Son and friends like OLDBEET. The rest of You greasy Hotrodders should be so lucky. We stopped around 5 o clock and ate the Turkey dinner Beet cooked for us and it was DELICIOUS !!! We worked on the car for 12 hrs and got the slanted pillars tacked in. Its a hell of alot more work than doin them straight like on FEDSLEDS Merc. Tomorrow We will finish off the doors. The front pillars need a little trim on the front also. If all goes well We will start the back window late tomorrow. Heres a few more pics. Thanks again JR and Beet this is a dream come true. My very first car was a 49 Merc just like this (not chopped) I never in My wildest dreams thought I would have another.--FEDER
Oh and yes the front end is stock. This car was gutted FEDSLED, JAMES AND I had it running and driving in 12 days.
