I bought a passenger door off of E-bay for my 28 Closed Cab PU. This guy that deals in A parts from MO sends me the bill...$300.00 + $30.00 for shipping (UPS ground). I wait and wait and wait I get my door today and it has boot prints (3 different sets!) and the lower hinge is bent at a 45 degree angle not to mention the nice dent in the center! He slapped an address sticker on it and shipped it! No box, cardboard, crate, anything! I figured since he had a business that #1 he would ship things safely...#2 that he probably got a UPS discount and that's why shipping was $30.00. Never offered insurance or crating. I would have paid for either/both. Now I'll need a new hinge and someone to dolly out the dent...$$$$. It is the same door that he had a pic of in his listing but now it looks like someone in a size 13 did a Mexican Hat dance on the Fu@ker. Should I try to get some of my money back?

I would... the seller didn't use "due dilegence" in shipping the door to you and because of it you suffered a loss.

The only reason I'm even asking is I see what Kustombuilder is going through with the motor deal. I feel like what I received is not what I was shown or sold. I assume that UPS is the responsible party but it is this guys negligence that allowed UPS to mess up the door in the first place.

Was it insured? Get the asshole to file an insurance claim on it. Get an estimate to get it repaired in primer from a body shop.
Same thing happened to me with a hood. Good luck!

I am sure YOU don't think its that funny though. If I were you, I would raise a BIG stink over that. It sounds like you got screwed. Give that guy hell.

First off, alot of ups workers enjoy doing that kind of crap. I worked there while in college. The same thing happened to me, I lived in Florida, parents lived in WV, came home for vacation and found a cherry door for my 64 galaxie vert. shipped it myself, did a nice job packing it, but when it showed up, same story, foot prints on all four corners. Had the delivery guy witness it when he delivered it, and quickly called ups. They were very nice, and quickly send me a check for $100.00. said all items insured or not are covered for 100.00 from ups. Only paid 30.00 for the door, 20 shipping, so I made 50 bucks for about an hour of bodywork. I would let the seller know, refund some money, or your buying experience will be reflected in your feedback you will leave for him....Good luck......Scott

I dont understand WHY some people insist on being such assholes. That sucks man, id bitch about it, and it sounds like you'll be able to collect $100 for the damages.
as American Graffiti's Joe the Pharoah would say it "Its not the SIZE in question, its the PRINCIPLE!"
Good Luck

I hope you noted the damage with the driver when it was delivered - the $100.00 would help, since the guy didn't offer insurance. At the very, least, note in your feedback that he didn't even pack the thing.
Damn vultures!

Definately bitch about it, if he didn't package it well, and tell us who he is so the rest of us can avoid him.

Before you guys boycott this guy I've got to tell you that he pulled through with flying colors!!!! He paid additional for insurance and he is taking the door back, refunding all my money and going after UPS for the damage claim. He was pissed. Said that he always sends stuff shipped this way and has never had a problem in the past. Sounds like he stands behind what he sells. He even put that in his E-bay listing!
Unfortunately this leaves me one door shy on a 2 door truck. I'm going to see if I can buy the damaged door off of him for a reduced rate. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
The name of the place is Battlefield Antiques in Battlefield, MO.

not that it helps much. but this is a hard door to find in any shape! so doing some body work on a dented door is better then no door at all, Im not sticking up for the guy. but I know how hard it is to find these doors. just something to think about.
