I always see cool parts for old cars posted on forum that were found on E-BAY. Are there "good" or "effective" words to use to get successful searches?
I want to look for parts such as 52 fender shirts, wide whitewalls, 2-card-manifold, split-manifold.....Are there ways to find this stuff....effectively
If I'm lucky once, I can be lucky twice. First time I used e-bay I found a 52 radiator...immediately! Is e-bay soley based on luck..... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Nick : Here is one tip that I use.
There is really two E-Bays... 1: E-Bay and 2: E-Bay Motors. I always start out at E-Bay motors. Plug in your search info then do two searches, one for the latest listings , then again for the listings ending soonest. I do this once or twice a day and you can keep up with all the listings in that group very easily. Then book mark that search so that you can came back to it later. Punch in your next search and repeat.
This allows me to not have to search though all the listings in one certain area (usualy I only have to go 3-4 pages deep), but I can keep track of them all in a very short time. Keep the book marks that work for you and try deferent ones until they do...H

Spend entirely too much time there, and you will find all sorts of cool shit.
Another way is to check out the sellers other items. If he has one cool think,he might have others.
Occasionally, some things are listed with incorrect spelling,
so you might have to get creative in your searches.

Nick, I just checked your bio and see you have a 1952 Chevrolet, so 1949-52 Chevy parts are what you want to find. Most guys that are selling these parts know they fit 49-52, others may list them by year 1949, 1950, 1951 or 1952, so you have to do a year check. Same deal if they list as '49,'50,'51,'52. Whatever the title line is that is what is picked up in the search. Search by body style, I have "Fleetline" saved as a favorite search in "My eBay" get your searches saved and you can just click on and see what is out there.

You might want to just go into ebay motors and do a specific search by year. Sometimes people are posting them incorrectly....like a 52 Chevy part that is really a 52 Ford part and vice versa. I also like to search from Ebay (the main site) that way I cover it all.

GOOD POINT! Always searh from "eBay" NOT "eBay MOTORS" they are two different animals.Just run the same search from both sides and note the number of auctions listed.
I'd probably learn how to spell better.
Although some of the best deals are mispellings and bad titles.

On your searches use the "KISS" spelling. Keep It Simple Stupid. And mis-spell stuff like a small town guy would list it and you will be amazed at what you can find. I found a 32' Grille shell last year that was listed as "Old Ford Radiator" and then a HAMBer posted it on the board and it sold for alot more than it would have. But, I did get two others the same way for $30 plus shipping, I told the guy that he could keep and relist the radiator and that I just wanted to save on shipping and wanted the outside shell.
HaHa.
