View Full Version : very stupid question - cleaning vs. stripping discs
Just got our order in from Eastwood and am excited to get the kids busy cleaning the rust and paint of the '29. I ordered the "scotchbrite" cleaning and stripping discs from Eastwood. I assume we use the stripping discs (the red ones) first and then finish with the cleaning discs (the coarse black ones) Is that the proper sequence?? I know, the answer is probably very odvious but I just want to make sure - Thanks

Unsure of what you ordered but I use em a lot at work.
Usually the coarser pads strip and the you polish with the finer grits. The ones with the abrasive glued into em will be what you start with. You'll be able to tell once you have em in hand.

Dan -
I got a bag of the "red" discs from a bud at the Nissan dealership, it seems that they had to change because the "red" ones were actually taking some of the aluminum off the heads and blocks when the techs were cleaning gaskets from. I havent had a problem with them and used them when I prepped for some paint work, they worked great.
