I recently bought a 1978 Jeep CJ5 AMC 304 V8 with the stock 3 speed tranny. She runs great, but I really hate shifting. What would anyone recommend as far as upgrading the 304 and or replacing the 3 sp with an automatic. I've heard of one chap who put a Chrysler 904 5 clutch transmission. Is this a good choice for a tranny and why? What's envolved with the swap.
