I know this is off topic but I'm at the end of my rope and this is the only place I know to turn. I have a 95 Ford F150 with automatic transmission that slung a rod and I found a 92 Mustang rebuit motor for cheap with everything. So I want to swap the factory 302 in the truck for the mustang motor. If I use the engine wiring harness and computer from the Mustang will all the guages in the truck work along with everything else. Otherwise I'm left to swapping the manifold which I didn't want to do.
None of the wiring connectors look the same which scares me. Any ideas? Oh and how do I remove the upper EFI manifold on these engines, it looks like I have all the bolts out but it won't come loose.

I don't know much about computer bullshit, but I think that there would probably be some differences in the electronics, like for all the sensors and ECU and stuff. Also, I think in 95 everything started getting the OBD2 technology for diagnostics, so this may or may not mean that ALL the computer stuff would be different.
Could you just strip off the bullshit and make it 1970 technology? Do they do emissions where you are?

Yeah well I thought about stripping all that shit off and just putting a carb on it too because right now we don't have emissions testing in my area
But I wanted to go this way because i think eventually one day it will be here. I might have to do the old tech thing though.

Did the F150 have a 5.0?
Why not swap shortblocks?
If it had a 6-banger you'll probably have to scrounge up the computer and wiring from another truck that came with the 5.0. That would be the easiest (I think).

Just reread your post. Why would you need to change the computers?
Do those trucks have mass air or speed density systems? Or something else??

Go buy some intake gaskets, because you have to use the f-150 intake. The car intake points to the p.side, while the trucks point to the d.side. You will also have to drill and tap a hole in the back of the intake for a knock sensor(or extend the wires) because the car motors had the knock sensor in a different location. In a nutshell, strip the Mustang motor to the long block and switch everything over.
I have a 95 F-150, and I learned a lot the hard way when I had to swap m&t.

The wiring is different, the ecm is different. There are at two bolts under the 5.0 emblem on the car plenum, and there is 1 bolt you need a long extension on the truck motor(right in the middle )

As stated, installing the Mustang long block with the truck's original intake and wiring is the best way to handle this swap. It'll get you back on the road the quickest!

I believe the cam is different between car and truck engines due to weight and need for torque v rpm issues.
Check this out on Ford Truck Enthusiasts in the 302 forum. Bunch of great truck guys there that can walk you thru the maze.
