Not a problem. The 390 was essentially the replacement for the 352 as far as being a base large car big block, and the 390 heads should work fine on your 352 engine. 390 engines are still cheap compared to their 406, 427 and 428 cousins, so finding a set of good used or rebuilt heads for a reasonable price shouldn't be too difficult.

390 will work just fine. A lota guys are switching to 361 heads say from ther mid to late 70s because they are real cheap and have hard seats, down side is open cumbustion chamber (lower compression).
I get the impression that you just want to go to bigger valves, not a problem either with your heads, remember to unshroud the intake, so it can breath http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
if it don't make ay dirty it aint yours http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Porknbeaner, don't you mean 360 heads? Like the truck motor? The 361 was the bored out 352 Edsel motor from the 1950s.

first off go with the 390 heads... depending on the year you may loose a bit of compression. but it will stay close.
the 361 and 391 are large truck motors and are modified FE's they have larger diameter cranks and bearing journals and a larger distributor bushing is needed. The 391 is commanly used now days because it can be bored out to 428 sizes easier than a normal block can and the cranks have been ground down and used to make 428 cranks. these are 332, 352, 360, 390, 406, 410, 427, 428, and sohc 427.
The other thing is you might want to join
fordfe.com they are a good resource for FE information.

Ford-Edsel. The series was introduced in 1958 for use in the Ford and Edsel lines. Mercuries used Y-blocks and the MEL (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) motor until the 1960s.
