I've decided I want to try to something more wild with the paint, so once again i got him to play with the picture a littl emore since now the car is shaved, with some otehr custom work, along with a flaked roof. Heres what he came up with the 2nd time.

so whatcha guys think? Silver base with silver flake, mask off some crazy scallops then cover with HOK oriental blue kandy? If anyone else wants to give it a shot feel free to play with the picture, I'm curious to see what it would look like with a paint job like this using the same colors. Just a little wilder than what's been photoshopped before. I can't remember who originally posted this pic or who drew it but if knew I'd give em credit.

j,
monster's second version looks pretty good, but could of course be a little wilder. as i have said from the start i would be more than happy to help lay that thing out, just give me a yell. my time availability may be a little screwy, but i'm sure we could find a date to do it when your ready. i've had visions for that car since i found it and sent you after it. thats why i wanted someone i knew to get it. i knew it had loads of potential. you got a barnes and noble anywhere near you? if so got look through customs of the 60's and customs of the 50s, the barris books, etc...etc...etc.. find shit that you like about the scalloping on a certain car. combine ideas from as many as you want. i've pulled from about 30 cars for reference of how i'm laying out the plymouth. alot of these guys can do this shit in photoshop. my photoshop is in my head. i can invision it without the photoshop, but sometimes wish i could do the photoshop just for reference for friends like you. it's hard to trust whats in someone else's head i know. sometimes you've also just got to throw balls to the wall and do it. i've pretty much decided that the buick is getting lace panels and heavy scallop job. i've never done a lace panel job. i'll give it a little pratice befor spraying the car, but i'm thinking i'll do it it doesn't turn out then i'll do it again. i'm bad about that. i built a tube grill for the buick, but don't know if i'm gonna use it so i haven't sent it to the platers yet. why well because i'm also going to mock up a coupla different drawpull grills and a bullet grill to see if i like 'em better. yeah i may be wasting time that i could be getting other stuff done, but you never know until you try. as i told you when we met this shit runs through my head all the time sometimes i think of shit in the middle of the night and i get up and write it down. the next day i may be like man was that stupid, but i have had some good ides just come to like that. and once again i said it when we met and i'm saying it again, i'll do whatever i can to help, just give me a call. sorry i can't photoshop, but if you want to get out the tape and mock up layouts on the car i've got a fresh roll of 1/8in sitting here waiting...ken....

Ditto. I think a wilder vertion of the second pic is the way to go. I think there has to be a tad more contrast between the basecolor and the scallops.

This is just a scallop idea, spent no time on the paint or anything else.
Tell me if this was more of what you were thinking about. Thanks

yeah monster that was more of what i was shooting for, maybe a little less busy, but pretty close. I really like the layout on the drawing i posted up at the beginning, but with the red turned to blue candy and the gold to silver. Luckystiff, If i can get rid of the Ford so i can afford to paint it like this i will definately get in touch with you if you wanna help lay all the damn lines out. If the ford doesn't sell soon it's just gonna have to get a plain 2-stage blue paint job.....

I like the drawing you posted and the scallops on it. However, you have to admit, those are two completely different cars with bodylines that arent even close. You wouldnt want to just throw on scallops and ignore the body lines of your car right?
The reason those scallops look so good on that drawing, is because the real car is very smooth, has flat sides and gracious curves. No body lines to speak of, which leaves plenty of area to have crazy designs.
60's cars are long, have plenty of body lines, no flat areas to speak of except the trunks/hoods/roofs.
Im sure you can pull it off, but in my own opinion, if you get the scallops to crazy on these 60's cars, you're just hiding or masking the beauty of the original body lines!
Your car in the drawing almost needs a paint job like that or its just another flat sided car. The 60's had so many lines already, you could paint it shit brown and it would still look beautiful.
Those are my opinions and I'll be quiet now http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
