Now $4000. It needs to find a good home. Thanks economy. I will be posting it on craigslist as well, but I would prefer for it to go to a hamber!
Yes, that is as low as I can go..:D
1953 Buick Super 2 Door Hardtop for trade. I have put it up before with no real success, a lot of lookers, but that is about it. I’m realy not interested in selling it, as much as I am trading it for a car that I can stick the family in and go!
When I purchased this car it did not run, and needed work, and I have got it running, driving, stopping and starting. It still needs some work, but due to my overwhelming work schedule and lack of knowledge of mechanics I just don’t have the time to finish it, and get it to where it needs to be. As little as I get to see my family due to work now, I want to be able to hop in and cruise with them, not spend all of my time on my back wrenching (I know I sound lazy, but I have to prioritize fun with the family over fun in the garage). I am much better at maintenance then full on repair.
Here are the positives….
1. 53 hardtop Super - straight, all original.
2. Running driving car. I have had the car up to 75 on the highway and it still had more to give. To see it run and stop, see the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUTOi5uhDGk
3. Pertronics ignition installed.
4. Pertronics coil installed
5. Rebuilt fuel pump
6. New water pump
7. Replaced push rods
8. 4 wide whites with less than 50 miles on them. Brand new un-mounted spare in the plastic
9. Original radio works.
10. Freshly repaired floors (installed and undercoated)
11. 322 Nailhead V8
Here are the negatives
1. Needs new exhaust (headers are fine, but the exhaust after that needs redone
2. Needs brake work. The car will stop now, but you have to pump the brakes. Perhaps a new master cylinder. I have replaced the rear wheel cylinder that was leaking.
3. Gas tank needs pulled and cleaned. There are no leaks, but from sitting with the previous owner it needs flushed and cleaned. I keep extra filters in the car.
4. Front seat needs redone. I have it covered now, but it needs seat covers.
5. Front windshield needs replaced. It is cracked. I have the new windshield, and the rubber kit, but not the time money r know how to replace it. The rest of the glass is good.
6. Small dent in the passenger door, and door trim. My friends have said it is an easy fix, but again, I don’t have the know how.
7. Bumpers need re-chromed. I don’t think painted bumpers look good on this car.
The car comes with
1. Carb rebuild kit (haven’t needed it yet)
2. New front windshield and full rubber kit
3. Unmounted new spare
4. All of the trim I pulled off the car. 1 piece of the original trim did not come with the car. It is the piece that runs along the rocker on the passenger side.
5. All of the manuals for the car
6. Various odds and ends.
Like I said above, I am not looking to sell, but to trade for something that I can get in with the kids and go to the local cruise-ins and shows. I need something that is mechanically ready to go, and in decent cosmetic shape. I am comfortable with cleaning up bad paint and spry bombing a car, and with normal maintenance. Much more than that gets me in the same situation I’m in now. I also don’t mind recovering the seats.
I want to stay pre 55, any make, but if you have something really cool, let me know. I have kids so “more doors” are fine. We all want a 2 door, but getting the kids in and out makes me open to the option of 4 doors. Just know that My biggest criteria is getting in and having fun with the family!
If you really want to by the car outright, let me know and give me an offer. Realize that it would have to be enough to put me into a decent driver. If you want to contact me directly you can hit me up at dbssound@comcast.net.
Thanks for looking!
