SOLD!
Spring is right around the corner and I'm selling my hot rod. Don't spend the cruising season wishing you had a hot rod to drive. It's time for me to move on to my next project. 99% of the construction was done by me and I can answer any questions you have. Here is a run down of what this truck is all about.
The chassis:
Stock A rails, step boxed. Inverted in the front with the horns pointing up for the suicide spring mount.
Box tubing K member 10" Z in the rear.
Front end is '39 Ford axle/bones with buggy spring. '55 Buick brakes with '40 Ford drums.
Rear end is a 60's Ford truck 9" with ladder bars and a Model A rear spring mounted over the axle.
Steering is a new Schroeder Sprint box with a shortened pitman arm.
Tires are Coker Firestone gum dipped 6.00-16 fronts and 7.50-16 rears
Drive train:
French flathead with 4" crank. Internally stock
4-71 blower with homemade by me intake and drive running 2 V belts for that period look
2 Rebuilt Stromberg 97 carbs
Chevy small block point distributor cut down for a flathead, with a pertronix
Rebuilt Chevy S-10 T-5 (5 speed) transmission
Denny's driveshaft.
9" Ford rear end
Alternator is mounted to the rear axle. It begins charging almost immediately after you start moving. It runs off a belt on the driveshaft
Body:
Ross Forklift grill
Giant Glo-lite headlights with halogen conversion
Cab is chopped 3 1/2". The chop is all out of the header above the windshield and below the rear window. Windshield and rear window are stock height
The cab is lengthened 3 1/2" by cutting and adding to the doors.
The bed has been shortened 10"
I added a glove box into the stock gas tank on the passenger side, see picture
The roof is simple black canvas and is removable. It snaps on like a tonnou cover. Take it off for topless cruising.
I drive this a lot. It has approx 15,000 miles in 3 years. It has always been very dependable and gets decent gas milage. In the summer time it is my daily driver. It is reasonable fast for a flathead. It runs a 15.0 in the 1/4 mile without trying too hard and breaking something. It also had a 2 page feature in the Spring 2008 issue of Hot Rod Deluxe.
The seat was just recovered in basic black vinyl. The body work isn't perfect and the paint has a little orange peel here and there but it is still very presentable and the paint still shines. It also has it's share of minor rock chips from driving, just like any fender-less hot rod. The speedometer isn't hooked up, but the tach is calibrated. The rear main seal drips a couple times after driving.
I wouldn't hesitate to jump in and drive this anywhere, and I do on a regular basis. This wasn't built just to sell, I've been enjoying it for the last 3 years and it is time to get my next project going. I've driven this on several 500-600 mile roadtrips with no issues at all. It runs cool and has great oil pressure. I live in a small town in Northern California so if you are into getting attention with a new hot rod, this one hasn't already made the rounds of all the hot rod scenes. If you do that, just give me a little credit.
Prior to you taking delivery the signage on the doors, the Rusty Nuts club plaque, and HAMB Alliance plaque will be removed. Once paid in full I can provide free indoor storage for 30 days. Longer term storage is available for $3 per day. I can work with meeting your car shipper at my location, but arrangements and cost are all up to you.
Thanks in advance but I am not interested in any trades. However if you buy my hot rod I promise to blow nearly all of your money on more hot rod stuff. I probably forgot something so send me an email with any questions or for specific picture shots.
Thanks
