Went out to my supersecret(tm) yard with a friend today, and came back with a lighter wallet. My friend bought a ’33 ford sedan, and a ’34 sedan, that I couldn’t even identify they were so bad. Snagged a few ’40 front suspension parts like I always do, but the real score was a ’31 Chevy 5-passenger, AKA, vicky.

Story goes that about a year ago (before I found out about the yard) a guy loaded up the chevy, but didn’t realize he didn’t have the money for it. The yard owner, being the nice guy he is, said take it, and pay later. The guy never did pay, but brought the car back (don’t ask me why). So I just happened to be there at the right time, and bought it for $100. I’ll snap some pictures when I pick it up.

I know early fords and mopars pretty good, but have no experience with early chevys. What I bought was a cowl, doors quarters and roof. No fenders, no frame, no decklid. I don’t really have a plan yet. Stick it on a homemade frame with ford type suspension for a hot rod? Weld it all together and put it on a FED to make a competition coupe? Hang it from the rafters in my garage and forget about it? Go full fenders and radial body modifications for a show car? Stock body with fenders and an olds rocket, hydro and an olds rear for a different hotrod? What does everyone else think? Guidelines are as follows: 1. I’m super poor. 2. I’ve got about a year before I get to it. It's in line behind my model A coupe, '32 truck, '63 dodge, '63 awb mopar. 3. I can find about any 50s or 60s V8 overhead motor for it. 4. I can fabricate anything I need for it. I just don't know what to do with it and I'm short on ideas. Dave

A vicky doesn't have a decklid. They were a shortened sedan, were they not?Good score no matter what you got. TP

To the best of my recollection, the 31 Chevy Vicky did in fact have a small trunk lid. I went thru my pictures to find a shot of one. I know a couple of gut who have them. or I should say one does as the other has passed on.

Well, there is a big hole in the back where it looks like a decklid should reside. I'll prolly make a panel to weld in though, and delete the trunk.

Stevie D, we got you a '40 column. We didn't even have to cut it off or anything. It was just sitting next to the chassis I got the front end off. We might be able to get some T parts you need too. Dave

Well I learned something today. I know fords don't have one but have not actually ever seen a chevy. The picture is a good looking car.Wasn't trying to be a smart butt just really asking. TP

I'd never seen a chevy before I saw this one. I didn't look at it long, about a minute, asked the price, then paid for it. Then it was off to find stevie a column, and find more parts.

I still don't know what to do with it. It would be a shame to hack it up to make a digger, so someone tell me something better before I decide. Dave
