Know I had a pic of a 51-54 packard 2dr custom on the puter at work. Will check when I go back Monday. Have you done a search for anything? Carnut.com have any?

I did a basic search, didnt find much? This car is very sweet and needs to be slammed. Does it have a torsion bar chassis? Sure would like to know more, I know the motors are good but I really dont know much more about them!

Oh, would you lookee at what I found........

Pic is way big, but it should help you decide if you're going to slam the Packard or not. Links below are about the suspension. Looks like only 55 and 56 had torsion bars, from what I've looked up quickly.

I've been looking unsuccessfully for a clean '51-'52 2-door for some time. Do you have any pictures of the one you've found?

Wouldnt be in Indiana, would it? I missed a really nice midnight blue one there in 1999. If you decide not to buy it, I hope you'll send the info to me.

Thanks!

Hey AD...lost your e-mail, but meant to get back to you about that T. The phone number I gave you looks to be the correct one, or at least the only one I could find. You wouldn't by chance be talking about the Packard those same folks have, wouldya? I've been eyeing the one on their lot for months now...

One in the same, going back down next weekend. I picked up the coupe yesterday.....so...Thanks for the info.

The doors are very useable. On the way home I stopped at my cousins and he had a passenger side door for me that was by far the best one I`ve ever found so I traded him....made my day!

As far as the Packard goes, that is a sweet car! If your wanting it you better move fast,He`s selling shit QUICK!
I really cant afford it but I have a buddy that wants to give me the money. Let me know if you want it.Dont let it get away!! We are going back next Sunday to get some more shit.I`d like to get it then if you dont want it.

These pictures aren't of customs, they're just nice Packards. This is the one I missed in Indiana; I think he wanted $5K for it. I later found a similar one, not quite as nice, here in SoCal, but the fool was determined that it was worth $11K. To whom, I wonder?

This one was for sale in Texas this summer. The seller was firm at $9500. Had a nice interior, but I think it was a pretty superficial resto. Lots of rust and rat shit under the hood.

...and here's one from New York that was bid up to $2K on eBay but didn't meet the guy's reserve. The description was much more grim than the pictures; talked about a lot of rust, and the interior was in rags.

How's the one you found, relative to this bunch?

Headliner is falling down,no carpet, didnt really look at the seats or interior much more. The body is in real nice shape, no rust, looks like it could be buffed out. The floorboards are exposed due to no carpet and they look as solid as the rest of the car. No dents, nice stainless, all dog dish hubcaps, one cracked side glass. This car would make an excellent custom!
I`m going back Sunday,if I dont get the car, I`ll get pic`s .....if Missouri Mike doesnt buy it.

Cool. I think they're neat cars -- kinda like big shoebox Fords -- but the 2doors sure aren't common, and nobody ever pays serious money for them. All the other body styles -- 4doors, hardtops, converts -- are turds compared to the 2doors, although the converts seem to change hands for big bucks. Good luck!

Go for it...I just started a new job and have to get some shit paid off before I can even think about it. Don't know how much he's asking for it now (and you don't really need to post it), but I know he was asking $1800 or so, which I thought was damn cheap. Much like that little coupe, I'll be glad to see it go to a good home.

BTW, the car has no upholstery or padding on the front seat...but the back seat is done. And you're right, it would make a really sweet kustom.

Oh, and if you REALLY want to make a trip out of it, I know where a similar Pack more-door is sitting in Poplar Bluff...and it's got a column shift manual tranny!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
