I did! Did not expect to be holding my stripped down rearend housing tonight but I am. I tore it apart today and took it to my buddy that does sandblasting. I wasnt expecting him to get it done but he did while I waited! For Free!!! Put this together with moving all my touring parts to the shop and I made progress, I am ready to turn the frame into a full roller this week. I feel good, the 348 is ready to be rebuilt, it is calling to me. Pics to come soon, later this week.

So any progress from the rest of ya?

I bought a 12 Ton shop press last weekend at Harbor Freight, on sale for $99. Put it to good use today pressing all the bushings out of my front and rear suspensions. Already have the polyurethane replacements to go back in but there's some clean-up/polishing to be done first...

Hauled home a shoebox I bouht awhile back, think it is a 50, its a 2 dr, got the 2 bullet grille. Missing rt rear axle, RF tie rod broke off so had to lift front end with A frame & chain hoist, rear with boom on tractor. Dont know why I wanted it, I'm a sucker for cheap rust. Cleaned the rat shit & rottren upholstery out , former owner obviously like RC cola in bottles. lotsa caps, and used the old coinpak condoms as found remains of several foil pkgs. Also hauled home a rolling T frame, old trailer. Dont know why I wanted that either. Tomorrow I'm going to clean up pistons & rods, start putting 350 back together, get my 32 3w running & driving. So far, productive weekend. So was last weekend, in a different way, got a new grandaughter last weekend!!! She is a cutie!!http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I went to a killer concert. Neil Young puts on a deal every year called the Bridge School Benefit. He asks a few bands to help out each year and it's an honor for them as well as the audience. All proceeds go tho support the Bridge School which is a school for severly handicapped children. It is a seven hour concert. Here is the list from last night!!!
The evening started out with Neil playing a few songs then the following acts performed.
Dashboard Confeessional
Wilco
Counting Crows
Indigo Girls
Incubis
Pearl Jam
Willie Nelson
Crosby, Stills Nash and Young

This was an all accustic concert.
To say that it was an incredible night is an understatement.
They are playing again today so if you live near the bay area you should call up Shoreline and get the info.
Rock on

CONGRATULATIONS on the grandaughter! When it's all said and done, family is what really matters, the ultimate in "traditional"....

Got some good free shit from a fellow HAMBer. He may have a questionably alternative "lifestyle" but he is good fellow. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif cleaned out the shed and got all the parts in there. Thought about waking off in the tool shed... got a Hood, driver's side fender, passenger side rear fender, passenger side door, running boards and some chrome. Super cool! I wanted to take the car out on saturday but I got this strange feeling that said I should not drive the car...pretty F'n bizarre. I went to get in it and got this massive chill like a spirit or some shit was telling me "NO!" Ever have that happen? Maybe I am just shell shocked because it seems like every time I get something fixed and the drive the car, something else breaks. Either that or I am just screwed up http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I compounded and waxed Faye, my 51 Chevy and then practiced parking her in a church parking lot across from my parents (I won't have a tags until Monday). My new tires and seat belts came home with my Dad from Charlotte and I'm going to get the tires mounted and seat belts installed this week in hopes of my first big trip with her next weekend. Don't know where I'm driving just yet but I have a week to figure that out.

Saturday was perty much all hot rod and

Sunday was a busy day too,

we went to Bed Bath and Beyond, stopped at Home Depot, picked out some nice stuff, then we went to Borders where...

as sick as it sounds that was my morning,

but I did spend about an hour behind the wheel in the hot rod in the afternoon,

road tunin' http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Finished taking apart my '48 F2. I bought it for chassis parts.

Engine stuff: I got an 8BA that looks like it's got an uncracked block, a Merc crank, adjustable lifters, aluminum timing cover, truck oil pan and truck water pumps. Got the 1/2 bellhousing adapter and the cast big truck 1/2 bellhousing.

I've salveaged some minor parts from the boat anchor trans and I got some open drive parts from the rearend. The brakes are identical to '48 passenger brakes except the hubs are 8 bolt. So much for the drums... I got the front shock brackets, the rear spring hangers and combo shock brackets, the clutch linkage, the pedal assembly, and the steering box and column that's the same as an F1. I got some low profile bump stops from the rear axle. Collected a huge pile of Ford hardware. Kept the throttle linkage, and the decent looking 94 carb.

FWIW, I bought this truck off EBAY last spring for $100. From a junkyard no less. And with another beatup engine that Elrod's got (it fell off the back of my truck, ouch).

The body and frame are going to a pal that will drop in a modern suspension and a 400ci Mercury engine to use as a daily driver shop truck. He'll keep the body as is - rusty and dirty.

First time I've been home for a weekend in a long time. Felt good to make some progress.
