I'm debating selling my 56 Buick, as I think this project is a bit beyond my skill level. Let me reiterate this now, I am NOT parting the car out. Its all or none, so if it doesn't sell it goes back in the shed and I will be one of those guys who will "restore it someday".
Its a 56 Buick Special 2 door HT. Its rusty. It has holes in the rockers and quarters, and the floors are in need of a lot of attention. (I've found two companies that make floor pans and inner and outer rockers, but nobody that makes patch panels for the quarter panels.) The fenders are in great shape, no rust at all. Trunk will need some metal work as well.
Most of the glass is in good shape, save the driver's side window - its broken. Windshield is good, as well as the rear window. Has the front split bench seat and rear seat, but they need to be recovered. Has the door panels, they need replaced/fixed as well.
The engine is a 322 Nailhead that runs. Its not the original engine, but I don't think that is a factor for people on this website. Engine has a 4 barrel carb on it. It runs okay, but has some lifter noise from sitting for so long. Doesn't blow smoke or anything. Maintains good oil pressure and didn't overheat when I let it idle in my driveway for awhile. Which reminds me, the oil pressure and temp gauges in the dash work.
The Dynaflow is toast. Its completely shot. The rear end also will need attention, and the car has no brakes. I mean the brake system is there, it just doesn't do anything.
I have most of the trim for the car, and the grille and front and rear bumpers. The trim is in okay shape, bumpers need rechromed. Missing front fender trim. Was originally a power steering/power brake car - both of those units are still in place. I also have a ton of odds and ends from this car and other 56 Buicks in the trunk, all of which come with the car. Also has a clear Florida title.
Email or PM me if interested. Can send pics. May consider a trade for another project (especially a 59 Chevy). Again, I'm not parting the car out. So bring cash and a trailer, and I'll help you load it. Take it easy.
