I'm in the gathering parts stage, and probably will be for quite a while. I figured I'd have one thread for my parts questions.

The first question is on front ends. I've gotta Model T thread here:

I'd like to go with an OEM front end, the lighter the better, but the CHEAPER the bestest. Since I've got Model T rails, I figure a T axle would be cool. Plus, most HA/GR's seem to have A, aftermarket, or homemade axles. But, I have some aluminum wheels with a 4.25" x 4 bolt pattern (I think) that I'm thinking I'll use up front. So, the question really is (forgive me, I don't know much about the early parts): How are you mounting your front wheels on your axle?

I think a T front would be cool and unusual, they're spindly, but not as spindly as some of the lightweights on WAY faster Fuel dragsters. since the stock T is spindle mount wheels, I'd think your choices for using your wheels would either be adapting original T hubs, or scratch fabbing new ones.

Outside of HA/GR, I think I'd like to see a slingshot with a narrowed T axle, 17" spindle mounts, VW torsion front.

Me and my son are running A front ends and we just got a set of wheel adapters to change the bolt pattern.
I do not know what pattern a T front is, but you should be able to buy aset of wheel adapters to do the same on it.

I might be mistaken, But didn't the "T" front wheels just bolt on with the spindle nut. Because they had no front brakes..And hubs came in when front brakes did..Model "A"... Dick M

From what I'm learning- yes, except the last years (26-7) had a 5 x 5" bolt-on wheel.

Use the original hub and rim, ditch the wood spokes. Get out the thin wall 1" diameter chrome moly and make a set of 1923 style 12 spoke spindle mounts!

no way !!! entirely too heavy as is !!! gotta "speed drill" those wooden spokes.

Might be fun to make up wheels that look like the wood spoke wheels in metal and then wood grain them. Bring smelling salts for the tech team. lol

Update: I got more T parts! I put a wanted ad on Craigslist and got a quick reply. I went for a lovely drive, and got a complete (except for spring) T axle for $20! I also got a firewall for $10, and a front wheel hub for $5! He threw in a front frame section w/ crossmember, a rear crossmember, and a brake handle assembly. I'll post pictures when there's more light to see the mess.
