all I can find is the speedway heater at 150 bucks. I think it would be ok but its kinda UGLY and In my car ya kinda see it stickin out under the dash..
anyhow.. anybody else know of a heater similar to the speeday setup? something that I can call and order.. I know there are lots of cool lookin old heaters around (i walked by a bunch at hershey).. but I want something new

Open car with no windows? You're gonna need the Human Torch riding shotgun to have any real effect! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Worked for a guy in Portland in the late 70's that rebuilt wrecked Toyota pickups. I was impressed with the compact dimensions of the Toyota heater. It uses a radial core with the fan motor in the center..take a look at one in the salvage yard sometime. Got no idea how many BTU's they make...
PUSSEY!!!!!!!
I've got a couple cool old ones.

I had a Tempo with a blown heater core years ago. I bought a 12v electric heater from Target...the kind that plugs into the lighter. It didn't do a DAMN thing sitting up on the dash, but if you zipped it up inside your jacket, it kept your body nice and toasty....still have it sitting here if you want it!

Honest Charlie was just telling me about his plans to develop a cool looking under dash heater. Deco styling and old school flavor.
Maybe this post will serve as support for a new project.

in my car i have a heater out of an early 90's mazda mpv- these things are great, they have a blower in them already, are aslim and compact, and can easily be made to look unobtrusive and not totally ugly. pumps out a whack of heat, but then i have a roof

How about this?
Mojave Universal Heater from speedway
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/eCCStoreFront/smi/product_images/medium/359640.jpg
This 12,000 BTU universal heater is fully self contained, but compact in size. Measures only 10-1/4" wide, 9" deep and 5" tall. The 3 speed fan blows air through a heater core that is plumbed just like any new car. Includes universal switch, fuse and wiring. Also available is a universal plenum which also has provisions for defroster hookups.

Bruce,
Yep, an original Ford tiki.
I'm building (long slow build) a T touring with the banger up front and was moving stuff around the garage a while back when I saw the face looking back at me.

Wow! I never saw the face in it before! Idea: Leave a window in your floor/mat for it--surround hole in floor with a sponge seal if your feet get cold. Chrome, paint, pinstripe or whatever--that plate needs to be able to see out!

the unit you mention is exactly what my dad has in his 40 chevy delivery. I've been lookin for one but havent come across one lately.. but thanks
We all use austin mini heaters over here in England they are all in one ,small and pump out a hell of a lot of heat you need a water valve tho to shut it off for summer,i just bought one today and it cost me £20 the whole thing including screen pipes and fishtail demister thingies.I know you have a few minis over there maybe in scrap yards try it out they are a real good unit,i had one in my 32 now i got one for my 35 truck.................MAD MARQ
