Friend of mine recommended this site as a great place to pick up some tech and get some good ideas. I finally decided to wander in and hope I don't make too much of a fool outta myself in the process.

My current car is a little younger than what most of you seem to be working on. That's ok, as I've plans for something in the early 50's later on. Right now, I need to get my '68 Fury finished or at least mechanically sound enough to get her under a roof before I start seeing rust holes.

Eventually, I intend to find an early 50's GMC or F-100 to restore for my wife. That's her favorite area in old wheels.

I'll probably lurk a good deal and ask the odd newbie question here and there.

Ya, be scared. One of the "tanks/land yachts" still lives and avoided the demo derby nuts. :p

She'll be pretty cool when finished. By and large just back to original specs, but she is going to get tinted windows and I'm changing the exhaust over to a dual instead of the chuggin' single she's got now.

She gets her original dark emerald green paint back too. I'd have to change her name if I changed her paint and that ain't happenin'.

I know a paintin' dude... and can occasionally help with weird Mopar parts. WEIRD ones.

I have a '66 Coronet wagon.

Hello from Shawnee, KS, on the west side of the Metro.

Hey, are either of you guys (Darkwolfe or Abomination) HPAC members? Good sources for parts there. Me, I'm restomodding my '67 Charger.

I'm not cool enough to be one of those guys. :)

My Coronet has a 318 Poly in it - last year for 'em. So I have a musclecar wagon, with a 50s engine... leaving me stuck between two worlds.

Consequently, not only an I fully versed in the 50s Mopar, I also answer a lot of questions about the motors from that era - especially the 318 poly.

If your lookin for an early 50s ford there are a couple in Rolla, MO for sale. One is a pick up, and the other is a panel truck (which I know any true hot rodder would Love to have!). Personally, I like the GM better, sorry Ford guys. :p

P.S. Love your car!

And I'm not even a Ford guy! LOL!

Hey - it's the first thing I've ever had I could actually BUY parts out of a CATALOG for... AND BOLT THEM ON. LOL! :p

The concept in and of itself really is quite amazing...

Thanks for the warm welcomes folks. I should let the Texas crowd know that I'm originally from Texas myself. Transplanted up here to KCMO about 11 years ago.

Racewriter- Haven't hit the HPAC yet. It's on my list for this weekend though. The good news is that the only "weird" part I need for the Fury is a windshield.

Waldoz- I'm a little ways away from being able to buy one yet (NUTS!!). Gotta get the Fury either finished or out of the weather this summer. Still that's not going to keep me from spending some time learning. Truth be told, since the truck will be for my wife, I'm probably going to go for the GMC. Her grandad had one and she really liked that old flatbed. I figure a nice '51 set up as a sleeper will do the job quite well.

Then again... :D

I just sent you an email about that windshield. I found you one over in Overbrook for $100... and you could probably trade or talk him down. ;)
