Here's a photoshop reminder of what we're doing to my '50 Chevy. Mike sent me some photos today of his handy work. I know it's in the early stages but I'm excited to see something happening.
Mike's using bumpers from a'63 Rivi, removing the bumperettes and 2 halves make a whole.

That's a good idea, but what about using a front bumper from a 63-65 Riviera? It already has that shape? When I saw the first picture, that is what I thought you had used!

Nice work though and it looks really good as a finished piece.

Hey, don't be pickin' on Mike. If he gets laid off he might have to move. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
We made a deal and he'll do as much as he can. I don't really expect the car to get "done" but he'll do as much as I can afford. I bet I run out of money before he runs out of time. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

yeah Rick, as soon as that layoff comes in January i'll have all kinds of time. i'll have to get some (paying) work done in the shop to make up for what unenjoyment does'nt cover.
glad you all like em. i just whipped that one up in about 3.5 hours before i left for work today. i had thought of doing the front bumpers but they are a little thinner and a bit too curvy. not too sure they'll work good on the front either Don. we need to find a bumper with some dagmars to build front bumperettes out of.

if i move before it's done i'll just pack it up and bring it with me. no big thang!! we'll see what happens with that.won't know much till about Christmas time. don't tell my wife but i kinda hope i do get laid off. i hate my job (factory work sucks) and if i'm laid off i get moved to the top of the list to transfer to another plant. i'd like to go to Grand Rapids cause i have friends there and i think i'd like the work alot better but Fort Wayne is'nt too fasr and the wife is from there so we'd be real close to her family. PLUS they pay all your moving expenses and give you money just for transfering taboot. that is if they need the help.
sheeeoot, lunch is almost over. back to work....

My fingers are crossed for Ft Wayne for you sweetie! I know how important it would be to you PLUS that means I'd have TWO girlsfriends in Ft Wayne that are not only into hot rods but scrapbooking as well... both in the same town! How cool would that be. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

a friendly hamber "damn you" mike! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

so much for my "perfect riviera" plan. a few years back, right before i had my world turned upside down due to a crazy girlfriend, as i was chopping my riv, my other project was reworking the rear bumper area, doing just that to make the bumperettes "right" along with the upper riviera bodyline mirrored on the bottom of the body below the bumperettes.

hey vance s. in minnesota, if you're out there, how much to buy my riv back?

The 'Vette lenses are '58-'60. As I mentioned above, I've got a pair of (supposably) NORS coming. I won't mention the price but let me say I bought a used pair to mock it up with and I paid $30. shipped, which I though was pretty good.
I'll keep you posted.

That is custom building in a nutshell! Improvments of the original design, and giving the car "style". The sectioned and reworked Buick bumper does look perfect!

hey DONZIE, show em all the pic of the front of that Buick you sent me and see if anyone knows what bumper that is or has one similar fo sale. the Riv front bumper comes out to a 'V' in the middle and won't work to swell on the front of your Chevy. a bumper with some boobies would rock though!!
oh yeah. a cheap alternative (or at least a good treatment untill funds are available for chrome) is to paint the bumperetes a metallic silver. not that ghetto chrome spray paint you see but just a nice silver with some metalic. it'd be cheap and keep em from rusting till the money is there for the chrome.

Cherryblossom, I heard that you and Mike were at Donzie's and you didn't stop to see me. I'm bummed, Mike and I could have played in the shop and Sharon could have shown you the house.
BTW, if you move, I'm voting for Grand Rapids. I don't want to drive all the way to Ft. Wayne to visit my NAILHEAD. HAHA!!!

first off...*I* wasn't there...had I been, I would have insisted on seeing you Frank :P
Second...I DID MY WORK FOR THE NAILHEAD....you can drive to see it darnit!. Ft wayne is only an hour and a half from here...GR is an hour...so it's not THAT bad.....
I'd be happier - doesn't that matter to you Frank? *grin*

Cherryblossom, Absolutely, your happiness is paramount to me. How could I not take your feelings into consideration. I've got a solution, How about you talking Mike into delivering that frozen nailhead over here, then I wouldn't have to insist on visitation rights. Why don't you find out how much it's going to cost me to take it off his hands. Just keep in mind it's probably going to need a complete overhaul just to take its place in my engine museum. HAHA!!!
