What are the CFM ratings between the small base and the large base 2 G's? Is there any any year better(less vacume ports and BS)than others? And what size(CC)are the accelerator pumps between the 2?

I know that those 2g's are real rare and few if any of you have ever played with one;) but any info is appreciated.

There is a good book with specifications, design info, and modification tips, but it'll be hard to find. Doug Roe, Rochester carbs, but you need the old edition, 1973. It's also good on other oldies like the fifties four barrels and such. The book is still available in a new edition, but most info on pre-Q jet carbs is gone. Still has a little on the 2's. Roe was a GM carb engineer and actually designed and tested much of the stuff he writes about.

They ain't all that rare. Altho they aren't in the local wrecking yards anymore. Guys have stashed them just like Buick finned drums. My brother picked up 4 rebuilts from Autozone. For multi carb setups you want the small base carbs. Early to mid 60's. You can get front or side facing inlets. Just get ones that match.

OK then, what application and/or carb model number would I be looking for if I wanted a large base, side inlet with manual choke and as little smog/port stuff on it as possible? Prefer high CFM.
