Hello All,
Another Canadian FNG here.
I’ve been lurking in the HAMB for a long time now and thought it was time to join and introduce myself.
I am in Ottawa, Canada, and own a ’55 Chevy Sedan Delivery which should finally be on the road this spring. I purchased the car from my brother (Koolkemp on the HAMB) in 2001 I think. He had it for a long time and didn’t have the resources to get it done the way he wanted. So he sold it to me to keep it in the family. He was doing all the work on the car and got it to the stage you’ll see in the photos of it my garage. He moved down east a year and a half ago, so the work stopped. Unfortunately, I don’t have the necessary skill to do the work myself, so it sat for a year until someone else could take on the project. The guy that’s going to finish it (a good friend) took the car this past fall and has made great progress.
It will be painted Cashmere blue with a white roof and white firewall. It will have WWW tires and chrome reverse and has been lowered about 3 inches or so. The interior will eventually be white/blue tuck and roll. I put a back seat in so my son could enjoy it as well. Motor is a 283, with a T400. It will have AC/heat, as we want to be comfortable in the hot summers. I guess you could say I am going for a mild 60s custom look.
I have a great appreciation (thanks to my brother) for traditional rods and customs and have really enjoyed reading the HAMB for the past 4-5 years. You are a great bunch of people with tremendous skill and knowledge, and while I don’t have the know how to add to the technical discussions, I’m sure I will continue to learn a great deal. I’ll try to post regular updates on the car as it nears completion.
