Great work by everyone!!!! I know I've been AWOL from here for a few weeks, but a new job and a bunch of other stuff have been keeping me away from my art. Thankfully, all that's changed now. I'll finally have time to get back to drawing and painting. Maybe I'll even learn how to use Paint or some other program, instead of hand drawing everything. haha. Time to teach this old dog some new tricks. Anyway, here's one I did a while ago, just playing around with mixed media. I wanted to try my hand at some dimensional art. It's a '59 Edsel hubcap, a '55 Ford tail light and a little One Shot on black illustration board.

I've been wanting to find the time to get back to doing a little illustration for a while now. This May will be the 20th anniversary of my graduation from art school. I did a ton of illustration in school but my career has been more focused on art direction, so I haven't done much drawing since.

Well, here's my first attempt at getting back to drawing – a 29 roadster in a style that I admire and hope to refine into something more unique.

How does Von Franco achieve that "look" to his artwork? The highlights look a little airbrush, a little paintbrush. Excellent stuff.

O/T (sort of) work done this week. Its a bar sign for a friend to give to his girl for her b'day. A lot of people on here go to bars, so i guess its not too O/T. 1-shot and gold leaf /copper leaf on glass.

If you do have some tutorials I will have to look them up. I am interested in learning the process.

Jigger, once again Mr. you captured me with the Mopar. I am in the mids of doing something for my Father he had a 71 Challenger that he used to race back in the day called "Mopar Magic" and this one you posted just sent chills up my spine. Truly a work of art. Oh yeah I took your advise on this one and well even though it is not finished yet I thought I would show what I have so far.

All I can say so far for everyone else is WOW!!! and thanks Britt for the comment on the Woody your stuff is always cool. I really like this piece you did kind a creepy......lol........... my kids really liked it.

Von Francos shit is always top notch as so for the others such as Acrochicken, GaryC., Spoggie,Lowcab, Hidden,Natas, Sanders, DtriotDino....who don't like pin-ups in that style.great stuff.
As the weekend continues I am sure I will have to give out many more props to those of you that are offering your work. Because this is just always getting better each week.

I just finished up this poster for a good friend of mine. He and his brother have been busting their ass trying to resurrect the old Unity Dirt Track here in Maine. Last Spring it was an overgrown field, but by the Fall you could take a lap. He's really trying to recreate the 50's and is doing his best to attract other vintage racers to his cause and is planning a big meeting tomorrow afternoon to do just that. Last week he gave me a "poster" he created with Microsoft Word and I nearly wept it was so fugly. He doesn't know I've appointed myself as his art and marketing director, but I think he's going to dig this a lot. Can't wait to see his face and thought I would share with you guys too. It's all his wording verbatim ... just gussied up a bit.

Great show this week guys.

Please excuse the poor image quality folks- I'll try to revisit this one as I suspect it has legs as a concept (G.P; gather the shapers ! )

Great show this week guys.

I dig it! There is a pretty large group of vintage racers up in Santa Rosa area that put on a pretty good show..lotta nice cars but more of a vintage racing/gentleman racing deal. Cool poster!

James ... very nice work!

I especially like any artwork that includes a '57-'58 Chrysler 300C-300D! ... I took several photographs of an old girlfriend posed almost exactly like that our the hood our of old Raven Black 300C Coupe.

Not my work ... but here's a Kent Bash painting of our old Raven Black 1957 Chrysler 300C Coupe:

A cropped version of the painting appeared on the cover of the January 1993 issue of Fantasy&ScienceFiction magazine:

... for an award winning story by Jack Cady, entitled "The Night We Buried Road Dog".

Great work everybody, the highlight of my week, thank you.

One from my kid (15), he knocks me out.

Your kid really has got something worth encouraging. Is this off a photo or drawn sight seen ? I'd be encouraging him to draw 'sight- see' method- any subject. He can obviously see a good way.

Thanks for all the kind words we are trying to get away from what I like to call the trashy pinup look thats been popular lately and go with more of a glamorous look. Keep a eye out over the next couple of months for some 40's style fashion work from us.

He drew it from a photo. But he took the photo too. We went to look at a old pickup, and he found that view among several old cars, and snapped the pic. Thanks for the comments guys.

That does it. Rocky Jr, I'm officially going to either give up pinstriping altogether, or I'm going to go live in a cave with my brushes for 10 years until I'm as good as you. That panel is off the chain! Incredible
