Can you Photoshoppers take a crack at throwing down some scallops on my Vic.?

The pic.'s are kind of crappy and are pre-drop, nosing and decking, and wide whitewalling, but they should do. And that stupid f'ing thing hanging on the mirror was from the previous owner, the fag.

I'm thinking something similar to the 4th pic. Maybe white on yellow/yellow on white for the scallops. Or possibly silver?

PS- Don't be afraid to wack the top a few inches while you're at it http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Looks good as it is... Nosing, decking, www and a little lower sounds OK. Maybe Merc wagon taillights too.
But scallops? Not it was mine...

Here is a shot of a Swedish 56 with "the right stance"

Why would you chop it? I don't think the vertical A pillars on this body style lend themselves to being chopped. They end up making the car look to bottom heavy.

I have no intentions of chopping it right now...but I figured while someone was photoshopping it why not ask?

Yeah, maybe cruiser skirts (if they make 'em for that year) and MAYBE a tad bit lower but I wouldn't do much of anything else (lake pipes?). That's a great looking car!

Look no farther than this for skirts. Very good prices. Was a very nice guy.
They will find it if they don't have it.

Way ahead of you guys. As I said in the first post:

The pic. is pre-lowering, nosing and decking, and WWW's. All that stuff is already done, but don't have pic.'s yet.

I just, just ordered skirts for it. She is dropped four in the rear and three up front, so they should make it look extra low out back.

And as for that lake pipe suggestion: I hate those damn things http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I like the trim too much for scallops/flames. The two tone really sets it off if you ask me. A bit of shaving, stance and Radir wheels with wide whites.
I like it.

I would do something conservative, just a 6inch section job and lower it.

Damn! That looks cool as hell. But being that I just paid much dinero to get the body done I can't go hacking the middle out just yet. Maybe someday...

This may just be my opinion, but I think those are one of the best shaped mid 50's cars. I say leave it how you've got it.

Right now I'm in the middle of gearhead free-agency (translation: I have no freakin' project!!) so photoshop is my only outlet... and it helps that I use photoshop all day every day at work (I work for a publishing company)

That said... here's my little effort. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

...and a different direction. This one is deep red and gunmetal, with AR salt flats rims painted to match. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great work guys. Keep playing if you'd like.

I like the red and grey. If I hadn't just gotten it repainted I'd consider going that route. I really like those rims.

It'd have been kind of fun to do the gasser thing w/ it too. Stuff a really stout 351 in there, a straight truck axle, and some Americans w/ cheater slicks. Add a bunch of metal flake to the paint and bam! Gasseroni.

I like it as a mild custom though...can't afford to be building big HP engines right now anyway. Low and slow is how I'll continue to go http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm also starting to think that maybe I should skip the scallop treatment. W/ the two tone and large amount of chrome side trim, it seems that scallops might make it too busy. Maybe just some subtle pinstriping on the hood and decklid?

This is not the same year or make but it has a similar theme. I would definitely lower the car and throw on some pinstripes, lakes skirts spots from Night Prowlers of course and call it done.

Keep us posted.

Happy Trails,

Mick

Cool looking car above...but I can't stand lakes and dummy spots on Vic.'s or similar cars. This era of car has a lot of chrome to start with. You stick dummys and lakes on and it just starts to get too busy. Definitely going to stripe it though.

Granted, this is just my opinion...but it's also my car http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

heres a couple colors I think would look cool. I also think just a drop and paint makes this a smooth ride. I tried choppin it... it just didnt look right. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

do you think red makes the top look lower?? Darker colors on the top alawys make it lower or chopped, and lighter colors towards the bottom of the car always make it look lower or dumped.

Now apply those ideas to a real chopped and lowered car, and watch out!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What do you guys think?

Damn Monster! You got some skills w/ da' Photoshop. Very, very cool. I'd be realin' in bass like crazy w/ those paint job http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks a bunch for taking the time to do this. I'm thinking I may just go w/ some clean pinstriping or very mild scallops. The car is just coming out of the body shop and with its distinct chrome molding I'm afraid bold scallops would just be too much. I'll snap some pic.'s as soon as it arrives out here in Seattle from NY. Can't wait!
