im going this weekend to get some 1977 granada spindles to put discs on my wagon.its been a while since i found the car.an i thought i remembered it being like a strut setup.anybody pulled any of these spindles?is the spring and strut self contained ?does it stay together?all i have to do is jack it up by the frame, and bust the ball joints loose, right?im a little spooked about springs since a friend got badly hurt by one.any info will be appreciated.thanks in advance!

From what I remember when I was working on the brakes after I got it, my 79 Grenade's spindles are held via 2 balljoints and the tie rod. No strut rods or nothin. Been a while, I haven't looked under that car in over 2 years.

Pretty sure theyre coil spring with A arms - Mustang II style? The strut was a pinto thing?

No struts. Granadas use a shock tower in the body much like early Mustangs, Falcons, Torinos, Fairlanes, etc. The spindle is mounted with ball joints to the control arms. The shock is inside of the spring, and the spring goes up into that shock tower in the body.

No different from removing a spindle from a typical 60s Mustang, really.

i talked to someone with a mustang.he said to take the3 shock tower bolts loose on top.then the the spring bracket that holds the spring to the upper control arm and it should just push out of the way.then go about your business of taking the spindles off.sound right?

Granadas went to struts in 1981. pre 1981 is what you want. I put them on my Ranchero.
