been to the 3 main rear end specs pages and none of them list a 65 Cyclone ,it appears that 66 is a different width anyone know ? I need one from 56" to 59"s in width,57" would be perfect.

According to this web site, the width without the brakes is 52" which is the same as a 57-59 Ford.
The 57-59 Ford is 57 1/4" with the brakes/axles fitted, so the Comet should work out to be pretty close to that.

The rear in my '64 Comet (same as '65) is 57" or 58", cant remember the exact size. One out of a '66 would be wider. That was the year the increased the size of the car a bit (remember Dyno Don's first flopper?).
Could you even get a 9" from the factory in a '65 Comet? Or was this installed later?

This particular car was a 390/4 spd red convert GTA w the fiberglass hood, it came with a 9"orig. and still has the disc brakes, but completely junk as it is rusted in half and missing all the $$$$ peices and no title, fiberglass hood was just sold for $50!-not sure if the posi is orig as someone has been in it and the tag is off, but defintately a posi 3:89 by the old wheel spin method.

I hate to nit-pic here, but the GTA would have been an automatic. Thats what the "A" stood for. If the car had a 4 speed it would have been a "GT".
Just one of those things I happen to know about ferds.
Actually My boss has a '67 Red on Red Fairlane GTA convertible that I have been trying to buy for years. It needs a total redo but I think it's a cool little car.

Oh, thats a '66 or later. Looking through some of the 9" sites, it looks like that one will be 59.25".

I was just about top correct that GT = stick /GTA =auto ,It has faed white stripes down the side and the shadow of GT on the fenders. So it is a 66? my books all show that year had a different grille and hood, this one had two 2.5"x 16" open slots in the front of the 'glass hood.
This is a hdtp of the same year.
