Just graduated high school this year...
So my stepdad (cheap n dirty) and I finally made the voyage to Idaho to get my 36 ford pickup he graciously gave to me. So far ive got the cab, frame, 9" galaxie rearend, 64' 330 olds(too poor to build flathead now), muncie 4 speed w/ shifter, complete 40 ford front end I just got from turloc swap meet, 36 and 37 grille. NOW...I need 35-36 doors, and a 30's bed, any year that is close as long as it works, a side plate for muncie m-22 4 speed, and a bunch of other stuff ill have to worry about later. Ive got lots of enthusiasm, and little money, but I hope to have her goin by viva las vegas.

Gun,
That's gonna be a cool ride. Take yer time and enjoy the building process. You will have lots of time to enjoy the cruisin part later on. Good luck.

You should be stoked to have a stand up guy for a step dad. When I was your age, I could hardly get my father to talk to me, much less give me a bitchin' project and help me build it.

Welcome to the HAMB. I agree; keep us updated with pics as the build progresses. That truck is gonna be rad.

I think you'll like the Rocket motor. Lots of nostalgia. Decent power. A little off the beaten path. Good choice.

I'll second the cool drivetrain! The 330 is a good motor. The cranks is FORGED and worth a bit if you ever get that flathead...

God bless stepdads that rule. Thats a tough thing to be. It rules seeing father's do things with their sons like this. Thats gonna be a great project.

Cool truck man!
A friend of mine on here is working on one too.

Here's an idea for your truck. Make the doors and bed out of wood. Make the doors so they look like woodie doors (real refined) and make the bed a flatbed with some real nice looking wood work.
I always thought flatbeds looked great (when done right) and I saw a pic of an early hot rod truck once with wooden doors. It was neat. And it definitely stuck in my mind. (anyone got a pic of what I just described?)

This would be cheap + It would be different and if done right a real eye catcher.

Its just an idea. But one that I think would look cool!

Good luck on that thing!

hey young gun, anyone who likes 36 ford pickups is OK! Doors interchange from 35 to 37, beds are 33-34, too small, 35-36 same, 37 one year only 38 to 41 same then later beds will work but are 3 inches wider. Great Truck, small inside the cab. Good luck with it. If I can answer any questions, I will be glad to help. Bruce

Good luck with your first project Young Gun. There are a few of us here with '35-37 Ford trucks so information should just be a question away. I built the bed for my truck so that's an option. The main thing is to enjoy it and have fun.
